Looks to be very likely they have that wrong. The team in The Age names L. Hughson as the ruckman. The taller Les (apparently) was a ruckman, and Mick a centreman. The match report in The Sporting Globe only names "Hughson" in the lineup, but again he is named in the ruck.Fitzroy Round 10 1937
