Mega Thread The Fireman Kornes and Ringo Rucci jumbo thread

No disrespect to all the posters on this thread but I could not be arsed to look through and see if this has already been mentioned. (This is the Rucci thread afterall). I am sure it has. But how about the ******* arrogance of the media and Caroline Wilson in particular. Saying that the club and Rucci have to get together and sort this out. GTFO. The club and Rucci are not equals or peers. Its a one-to-many relationship between a club and media. We don't have to do shit unless its in our interest.

And the fact that Rucci is getting pressure from his bosses isn't the club, its the clubs fans and we are the majority in Adelaide. Unbelievable comments from Caroline the other day.
When Caro, or Rucci, or Rowie, or anyone in the media complain about the club not being accessible or lying about injuries, or whatever it may be

They are not doing from a 'good of the game' point of view, or on behalf of supporters

They are doing it for themselves

I get more info on injuries now than I ever have - via the club website and social media.

I don't need the Advertiser or 5aa. That is why they are threatened.

The club does need a medium to broadcast to non-AFC fans, so they use Caro when they can. We still need her. We don't need Rucci. And he (and more importantly, the Advertiser) knows this.

You know, I am actually not sure he is on a good wage.

I have to agree, according to the 5AA commercial agreements on their website Rucci is paid less than $100,000 by The Advertiser.

I was shocked when I saw that because I heard in the past that Caro was on $250k+ at The Age when she was their Chief Football Writer.

I personally would have no issue if Rucci called the club out on things that had a real impact on our performance. Yes we get information from the club. But like all AFL clubs it is sugar coated.

At the moment we have a lot of hamstring and soft tissue injuries. Yet his beef is the way our injuries are reported not the actual injuries ourselves.

I suspect we have altered something this year that has caused these. A good independent journo may be able to do some research and analyse this issue.

Unfortunately Rucci is not interested in such an issue and is more concerned with his own agenda than a beneficial (to supporters) critical analyse of our injury list.

Not only that, but why on earth would the AFC ever contemplate letting him back in?

We've only just gotten ourselves in a position where we stopped him from being able to abuse his position in the media to white ant us, why on earth would we let him back in? If you've been able to keep the wolves at bay, why on earth would you encourage them back in?
Although that doesn't stop him from white-anting with speculative, petty, made up shit and drivel.

I won't even look at the Advertiser if it's on a table, I don't have to pay, and I've got half an hour to kill these days.

But for me, as far as Rucci goes, I stopped reading his stuff (for information, I still might take a look online for a laugh) when the clubs started posting press conferences quickly, and then radio stations posting interviews to Soundcloud etc.

Because I realised those are his sources, and I could clearly see where he was applying his biased spin by twisting the words, selectively quoting and implying a heap of stuff between the lines.

Someone like Caro will break a story, add new facts or quotes that aren't available elsewhere.

For example (a boring one) Eddie Betts said in a radio interview when asked about the Douglas bump "we've been told to go for the ball first".

Headline...

Adelaide Crows hero Eddie Betts reveals how AFL training is already reacting to the danger of the bump

Ok, I think what has Eddie Betts revealed? Rucci, Sports Editor At Large, then manages to write 600 words without including a single quote, not even the original one.

That Rucci At Large, who is now apparently picking and choosing the stories that interest him, can at best, listen to the radio and then not add anything new to the story shows me how blocked he is for access.

Not sure that's correct with Rucc. I'd be VERY surprised knowing what some others there are paid.

Caro, from what I have observed, is a serious journalist and proud of her profession. Rucci is part of that profession so she is immediately supportive of that. I don't think he's actually a journalist and these days is essentially a columnist in the lines of Andrew Bolt.

I have a lot of respect for Caroline Wilson. Not because I agree with what she says. She is pretty much as bad as every single other Victorian journalist/columnist. Completely biased. But I respect that she has made her way in an extremely male dominated and blokey industry. She gets subjected to comments from other journalists and media people that pretty much no other person has. Maybe Molly Meldrum being the exception in the old days. Yet, she has still managed to carve out a career and the respect of her peers. She is an impressive lady. I might even like her if I was Victorian.

But her comments that the club and Rucci have to "get together" and sort something out. What an unbelievably ridiculous comment. Why on earth would we need to mend any relationship with a particular journalist. We are not acting like Donald Trump here. We have good relationships with the media. As good as you can get if your not a Vic team. One bad relationship is irrelevant. I think our fans actually don't want our club to promote or support Rucci's career. I don't. I don't understand why people read him. On your comment, there are probably very few journalists left, most are columnists now. But Rucci is even less than that. He is more like a feral facebook poster with Port Adelaide fan's following him. I doubt even they enjoy his content, just the fact that he digs at the crows.

Just saw Rucci’s article (headline) about how the SANFL have shot themselves in the foot but demanding the crows SANFL team use top up players making us weak. And that this might precipitate a national reserves comp.

Could it be, is it possible, that he has written an article that helps the crows?!

Can see why Rucci is bitter towards us.

We stopped spoonfeeding him stories and Newscorp have started paying him accordingly.

His mother never taught him "don't bite the hand that feeds you"? God, her hands must still be recovering from when he was a youngster:)

It’s part of his current agenda to keep “Port Magpies” in the SANFL if a Reserves comp comes in.

Makeshift Crows Reserves team devalues SANFL - how does that help us? that's another shot at us

I have always been convinced that when he is always going on about how the Crows should field more teams it is because it will cut into our profit line.

It helps he mentions how we have drawn our top from community football. followed by
"For those not aware, Adelaide — unlike the traditional SANFL clubs — does not have a reserves or under-age team. It is a “fill-in” team in the State league."

Ends up with mentioning
"A weak Crows SANFL team devalues the State league.
And it brings on the AFL national reserves competition."

To be honest one of his better articles,
