Extended bench:
  • Adams, Langdon, Greenwood, Brown C, Daicos, Murray, Wills, Oxley.
will have four chopped off.

Who are certain to make the interchange four?

Suggest, Adams and Langdon are certainly in, hence two spots left.

Two all but certain as not making it, suggest, Wills and Oxley.

This leaves Greenwood, Brown, Daicos, Murray fighting for the last two spots.

I’d favour Greenwood as all but sure, and then it’s a case of Daicos getting a reprieve or being swapped out for Brown or Murray.
With no certainty, I’d suggest Daicos does make way for Brown, but only just.

So summation:

In: Greenwood, Brown

Out: Dunn (injured) Daicos

You can make up all sorts of silly scenarios but you’ll be wrong.

The club will move mihocek back and will have five mediums around cox up forward. With Treloar out they won’t want degoey spending much time forward.

Greenwood will probably play defensive forward as he has done in the past because he’s the best man for the job without upsetting existing defensive and midfield structures. Like for like has been a theme all year.... minimal shuffling of the chess pieces.
1. They're not silly
2. De Goey got less midfield time despite Treloar being out last week
3. Minimal changes can still occur without bringing Greenwood in

Agreed no chance Langdon will be dropped.

This game is just the challenge we need after two lackluster performances.

Brown deserves to come in IMO.
I'm a Brown fan, so would like to see him come in, but I think Greenwood for Dunn wii be the only change.

I’m getting a wiff of the GWS game here. Yes I know our game is better than what it was then but the lack of talls was a major reason we lost that. All it takes is one injury during the game.

I hear Bucks talk a lot about keeping the structure, so if that’s the case, McLarty should have been the logical in.

You can tell we have injuries the fact that Crocker is getting picked and so is Oxley.

1. You havent actually offered any scenarios yes so its true, they cant be silly because they are not disclosed. The only one you have suggested is "not Greenwood".

2. With Mihocek in defence, De Goey would have far less midfield time again if he was going to be the nominated replacement for him. If thats the decision the club wants to take and rely on second gamer Sier to take up the slack at the cleareances, then fine. I doubt they do though.

3. Yes they can but they'd be silly. Greenwood in is the best available like for like replacemenet for Dunn given no genuine kpps are available. The next available big guy is Wills and he is a one positional inside mid. We already brough Sier in last week for that.

Let’s just beat them.

Kill their finals hope.

Then the media can crap how we’ve not beaten anybody yet.

You know if we win Essendon will just be regarded as a bottom ten side again...
Yep.

By the time the seasons done, they’ll say we beat only the 17 teams below us.

I wish this happens.

And stuff the media

Brown for Daicos is a possibility. But that could just as easily happen next week or the week after.
Definite possibility, but I don't think it will happen. Whilst I rate Brown higher than Daicos, I wouldn't make that change, as I reckon we're well stocked for inside mids.

Agree, with Sier JDG Adams and Greenwood doing the dirty work, I think Daicos offers more of something different compared to what Brown offers.

You call everything silly then try proceed to spin that somehow Greenwood is like for like for Dunn.

Righto.

He’s more like for like than the other available options.

He allows mihocek to play back which is definitely like for like. The forward line needs to be restructured because there’s no key forwards left and given his size and experience is as like for like as we have available.

Im still waiting for your suggestions. So far we have “ not Greenwood”.

We embarrassed them on Anzac Day.
Since then they have got form and we are injury struck.
Not really sure how we can stop them kicking a winning score with our backline in disarray.
Win the contested possession and move the ball well into our forward line.
We will get enough forward 50s, just have to convert.

Actually a bit worried about this game. My superstition has me concerned that outside West Coast, every other team that got on a run maxed out at 6 in a row. They lost the 7th.

Outside west coast? So somebody else has managed it? Pretty flimsy superstition!!!

There are no like for like options. Greenwood isn't more like for like than anything and Mihocek going back will be allowed irrespective of whether or not Greenwood comes in.

Disarray??? a bit over dramatic! Only Dunn is missing, a big loss, but the way we have approached this year, l still feel we can cover the loss to some extent.

He has played forward many times before and has the height and strength to compete with tall defenders or to play a defensive forward role.

Most of the other vfl options havent got the same credentials up forward and hence are less like for like than Greenwood is.

I’m not going to get into a semantics war about it though. I get it. You don’t like him. Your selection strategy is anyone but him.
