Play Nice Was that Gaffs last game for WC?

If all off the ball hits were assault charged then the AFL could be in trouble. I condone what gaff did but if the police got involved for every hit, there would be many assault charges. Could get real messy.
Not every hit just what has a handful of off the ball hits in the last 40 years. Gaff, Hall, Mathews etc. It's not acceptable any more on or off the field

This is not squaring off with an opponent, just a dog act, one that should shown to be unacceptable.

It’s not a “charge all” or “charge none” premise.
Off the ball hits, the same a shot in lower levels, are judged based on reasonable expectation of the sport.

Are you saying brayshaw should have no right to request charges?

Brayshaw has every right to do so. I don't think he would though , as it would create a shit storm the AFL is yet to see.

No. No it wouldn’t. It’s happened in the past and happens at local levels.

So what is your point? You’re playing both sides now.

Considering charges get laid at all other levels for extreme incidents why should top level be different?

In terms of the WCE arrogance, which I agree they are both smug and arrogant, wait until we hear their defence tonight.... I'm expecting loads of BS based on all of their key statements so far.

His old man has already forgiven gaffy.... Which means more than the opinion of bigfooty peeps who are still baying for blood. So many knotted knickers in here.

Was never playing both sides. I just don't think players press assault charges because it can get real messy. Did mills press charges against Bugg? What about Cripps on Lewis?

Should West Coast simply accept tribunal decision whatever it might be for long term PR reasons?

While a club has a right to challenge not sure be a great look

Yeah, that's what I'd be inclined to do were I Gaff - accept full responsibility, apologise and offer no defence outside of saying something along the lines of it was a moment of madness. And take the full measure handed down by the tribunal.

Not sure he used the word forgive.
More that he has some sympathy for Gaff as he has to live with it.

Irrelevant though, Andy Brayshaw could come to the tribunal and ask for only 2 weeks, won’t change the outcome of 6+ at all

in light of you reaching out in desperation as his season ending action dawns on you, I say let thy baying continue. hes a dog and proverbial booketh needs to be thrown.

I’m not actually sure what they could argue? Was high, can’t argue the severeity due to broken jaw and intentional - we’ll what else is he doing?

Might just accept guilt, character witness & ask for 6?

The way I see it, they plead guilty, duh, but will put a case forward that while he hit him it is clear his intention was not to hit him in the head.

AFL probably push for 8-9 and WCE probably push for 6-7.

You condone what Gaff did? Are you sure thats what you meant to say?

Would it?
If school taught me anything authority figures don't care for what instigated the incident.
Well it might at least provide a semblance of a defence for him but Now that I think about it, the way he ran off immediately after the hit tells me everything I need to know....

What is concerning to me is the lack of relevance to the peoples will as determined by the markets not elitist yes speak.

What is quite clear and definitive is Gerard Healy, Garry Lyon, Jonathan Brown and Paul Roos are unquestionably not Legends of the AFL. One or two may be later at some but this quartet is simply not in the Legend bracket!! What is interesting is MSM have not sort comment from the actual Legends of the AFL!!! This is clearly unquestionably fake news!!! None are Legends!!

Furthermore, public opinion is not a market and therefore not the peoples will and simply propaganda pushed out by an elite that has captured the narrative!! Furthermore, Chris Scott is not a legend of the AFL either but clearly has shown favour for the political game especially in favour of the current team he coaches!!

The disconnect between judgement and reality has never been quite as clear when cereal buffoon Whateley felt Gaff should get a greater penalty than Hall in the Staker incident despite the fact Hall's effort was far more akin to a king hit and from someone with real know how in the boxing discipline!! When prominent self entitled lawyer fills Gaff flagged the prospect of criminal charges on Gaff ignoring the peoples will clearly houston we have a problem!!! see link on another agenda driven article by MSM. https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/a...s/news-story/26c4b8a3abd18248b1d158d6fe02766d

It is no wonder we have so many unwanted interventions and rule changes in the current game of Aussie rules when so many self-entitled wannabes want to make changes ignoring the market desire!!!

Except their sentiments echo a chap named Matthews. Who, in his own statement, has been both the victim and perpetrator of similar incidents.

I posted during the 4th quarter whilst listening to the derby on radio, before the outrage entertained ideas of "10". At the time, 3-7 was the range of suggestions from all posters of all clubs.
3? Fmd lol yeah right.

Big of him no doubt, may not have been the same reaction if the punch had been a couple cm different.
But it does not in any way excuse the action like you seem to infer.
