Play Nice Was that Gaffs last game for WC?

If Basil is a genuine reporter, he has the chance to ask the following questions to Lyon at the 6pm news this evening:
1. Why you sent an 18 years old to tag Gaff?
2. What did Brayshaw say to Gaff immediately before the incident?
3. Did the language Brayshaw used has anything similar or relating to the Fremantle female staff harrassment case?
4. Does Fremantle has a culture problem? Why harassment case detail was not disclosed with details?
Embarrassing post.

Must admit I'm really enjoying the negative coverage the Eagles are getting. They're so conditioned to their TV programs and Radio shows being so pro-WCE with exaggerated coverage to make them feel better. Too used to seeing Fremantle & Ross Lyon cop flak regularly and be shat on with actual made up rubbish directed at our culture and players. Now the table has flipped - based off fact, one of the worst on-field incidents in the history of the game and their CEO / Coaches' incapability to show any kind of leadership against their once in a blue moon confrontation - now that this is real and they're copping negativity in some form of media here finally, it just shows you how ******* soft and fragile their supporters are.
I wouldn't know, don't live there, few team fishbowls are generally avoid.

By not firing Lyon Fremantle are condoning harassment of women in the work place

Nisbett should Resign.

WCE have no right to defend charge and Gaff should offer no explanation for his actions.

Gaff incident is evidence that WCE have a ‘players can do anything they want’ culture at the club.

Gaff will be unsafe in Perth due to marauding packs of salivating SJWs, who would be well within their rights to ‘even the ledger’ with mob justice.

What will today hold?!

Really it's hard to believe how hard done by WCE are in all this. Won't somebody think of the eagles!!??

If the club had any integrity at all they would forfeit the season out of embarrassment. Anything less and they are advocating this behaviour.

Pretty much what everyone else has said, embarrassing post.

Victim blaming again. Assuming Brayshaw said something to supposedly a friend (played golf together) is a stupid suggestion.

And if he did, so what? Gaff gets tagged almost every week by more experienced players than Brayshaw.

As for Brayshaw tagging Gaff, he wasn’t, but he was near him at that point so he was accountable for him.

If Lyon did sent him to Gaff, maybe it was for an 18 year old to learn how hard a quality AFL mid/wingman runs and where his running patterns took him to find so much footy?

Some of you guys have short attention spans. This is a discussion about Gaff who has smashed another players face.

I have no problem with people questioning Lyon, Ballantyne, Solomon or any other Fremantle official's behaviour, and they have done that. Plenty of threads around have discussed stuff like that, but unless they have any similarity to an on-field coward punch it just looks like what it is; childish diversion.

They can still give you a discount for a clean record etc. usually they’ll just take a week off the decided penalty.

Halls was worse due to his size and boxing skill & at the time I said he deserved to serve 12 weeks +
I think Gaff deserves to serve 7.
Didn't Hall get suspended for another incident in the game as well? 5 weeks for punch and 2 weeks for something else

The answer to questions 1-4 is irrelevant.

Gaff punched him in the jaw, broke it and now cops his ban.

Has nothing to do with Freo nor Lyon.

Fool.

So you condone it as well. Disgraceful.

Remember Des Headland? So yeah AFL says you can hit someone based on what they say

Since the moment Gaff made the decision to smash Brayshaw, the Eagles have got nearly everything wrong about this.

Gaff did it and ran away, leaving a fellow player writhing on the ground with no support.

Simpson chose to send Gaff out on the ground again and again to the adulation of the Eagles crowd.

Those that control the big screen replays made the decision that this incident and Brayshaw’s face afterwards were not an important element of the match and that the crowd did not need to know about it - a terrible decision. (I don’t know if the Eagles were directly involved in this decision.)

The crowd treated Gaff as a hero. Maybe many did not know what had occurred. One poster on big footy said he knew and gave Gaff a standing ovation.

The Eagles team showed enormous elation and treated Gaff as a hero when he kicked a goal after this incident.

The Eagles saw fit to post a photo on twitter of the team showing elation around Gaff after the goal he kicked.

Simpson has constantly pushed the line it was not intentional, that it is part of the game (what the?), what a great character Gaff has and showing a lot of sympathy for how Gaff feels. He has shown little sympathy for Brayshaw and has not condemned the action as inappropriate.

Nisbett has pushed the same line as Simpson, condemned Lyon for being emotive in his press conference, run away from comments he made 3 years ago about a similar incident in amateur football and walked out of the press conference on the subject early.

The only one who got anything right is Gaff himself who had an interview with David King after the match, expressed enormous sympathy for Brayshaw and made no attempt to excuse his action.

The Eagles should make no effort to mount a defence tonight and should not argue for any specific penalty. They should accept whatever happens, condemn the incident as not being appropriate and express concern and support for Brayshaw.

Better late than never.

Sjw's well.within their rights with mob justice? That's insane mate

Is not about condone it or not is all about taking punches out of the games . Bringing previous incident in not going to help , should it be done better in previous incident absolutely , but you can't change it now.
Eg
I can have good record and get send to jail because I kill your son in a car accident now . I can't said your wife ,friend ,family also hit somebody with car but they never get send to jail .

Please dont insult my intelligence!
especially when you have not watched the interview and dont know the whole situation.

I did watch it. Your level of intelligence is evident by your embarrassing post.

But dont let that stop you deflecting.

I have no idea if it is the same guy you have a hardon for or not.

Quite interesting that a WC supporter insists on playing the man not the ball. A pattern perhaps?

A useful contribution in this context would perhaps be an informed opinion arguing that this is not an assault. Any chance you could find one?

A useful contribution like condemning the "line in the sand" game against the Bombers which plenty of Hawks greats, supporters and current admin get a hard on over repeatedly and celebrate (with a wink and nod).

Or is there a grandfathering clause on AFL violence (i.e. good before 2005, 2010 or 2001)?

No problem with Gaff getting a season ending suspension, but the hysteria is way over the top.

If any good is to come out of this, it will be a red card system that will genuinely reduce the events of these types of disgraces.
