I do find it quite incredible that Richmond can lose the free kick count all the time and yet still get away with all the throwing and scragging that they do.

Should probably be a -150 free kick differential if the umpires were fairdinkum.
plus the amount of tunnelling forwards under the ball by their defenders, and diving by Rance.

The tigers play a frenetic, high pressure, fierce tackling game style, which is prone to giving frees away

Their game plan is also not fundamentally based upon being first to the ball and that also impacts.

Injuries! Injuries ! Injuries! Amazing the number of opposition supporters accusing Richmond supporters of arrogance have not bothered look in the mirror -this particularly means you and other Pies mafia members. Do moral victories count in finals?

I love how richmond supporters bring up collingwoods injuries more than collingwood supporters

The Tigers play sloppy and give away stupid free kicks....let's blame everyone else though

They need to start being more disciplined, like West Coast

Pinocchio has entered the room.

Despite the conspiracy theories, I daresay it's a by product of Richmond clearly applying the most manic pressure across the ground of all sides. The good of this pressure easily outweighs the bad but it probably is a contributing factor.
Too much sense in this post - does not belong on Big Footy.

Did also break the intercept marks record for a season but missed attendance by 4000... ****inh Etihad home game bullshit

Bit rich to blame Etihad. Just last week there were thousands upon thousands of empty seats in Richmond member areas at the G. Pretty simple, they just didn’t rock up.

On the free kicks, the differential is a horseshit stat. The only real stat is correct v incorrect frees... and the umpiring dept don’t release it.

You can give away plenty of free kicks, some players and teams styles just lend themselves to it. Doesn’t mean they were wrong or the team was hard done by.

Lmao. Rance has won a total of 1 free kick from diving.

A frantic high pressure game plan should also be prone to winning lots of holding the ball decisions, should it not?

I'm a bit confused, what record did they break? Teams have had a worse FK differential in the H&A season before.

Ron The Bear do you have a list?
Im very sure thats not true. Richmond were dead last in 2017 aswell and we were not even close to -120.

Last ranked team in free kick differential.

2018 - Richmond (-120)
2017 - Richmond (-60)
2016 - Power (-58)
2015 - Saints (-66)
2014 - Dockers (-63)
2013 - Lions (-68)
2012 - Lions (-50)
2011 - Richmond (-47)
2010 - Lions (-76)
2009 - Hawks (-59)
2008 - Hawks (-99)
2007 - Swans (-104)
2006 - Swans (-87)
2005 - Swans (-97)
2004 - Cats (-66)
2003 - Essendon (-98)
2002 - Essendon (-67)
2001 - Hawks (-80)
2000 - Carlton (-67)

-120 is pretty damn huge considering no other team has had worse than -76 in the past 9 seasons.
13/18 teams this year were no worse than -27. Last season 15/18 teams were no worse than -29.

Bulldogs in their premiership year which was also built on pressure were at +112 (over all 26 games). So where is the difference coming from?
Does anywhere have a break down of each teams free against (high contact, holding the ball, in the back etc)?

Will be interesting if the umpires put the whistle away as normal during finals...expect to see a lot of opposition supporters complaining about us having a ‘dream run’ with the umpires...despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Free kicks were much higher in the 70s though, I think you'd find several teams with worse differentials in those years. Richmond looks like they have the recent record though.
Yeh but completely different game back then. Different rules, different interpretation of rules, different game plans. So not really worth looking at, even early 2000s is getting pretty irrelevant.

Agree. I'm just wondering what record the OP is claiming the Tigers broke, if it's a Champion Data record which some commentators like to talk about as 'all time' records.

I blame it all on Razor Ray the flog.

1 umpire made things much more consistant, he would pay a free when it was there.
The AFL should have kept one field umpire and added to the boundary umpires, wire them up like in soccer but only one makes the final decision.
