Is our future first worth Martin and Setterfield if that’s what it nets out as?

Fair dinkum some of you people think game changing talent grows on trees! We Haven’t kicked 100 points in 3 seasons nearly and we are saying no to a mercurial player who can turn a game on its head because a future first is sacred? Spare me!

SOS already played hardball with pick 1 for Shiel this period and fair enough too on that one but a future first that can potentially get a Martin type player and a pick that satisfies GWS for Setterfield in the process is well worth the risk.

Martin still could be anything and has 6 or 7 years of good football left and so could Setterfield and he has 10.
For a future first round pick who is still speculative I’d sign that off in a heartbeat. Both players make us instantly better next year if fit.
Absolutely. Martin is under rated by many casual watchers. Can play forward and back, best comparison is a slightly smaller, lighter Andrew Walker. Not worth that pick alone, but coupled with Setterfield it is a good option. The Suns would be super reluctant to release him,but where ther is smoke, there is fire.

SOS has nabbed young Setterfield, and absolutely will not let him loose. We will find a way. A bundle from GWS would
be also be nice, but can't see them wanting to release more best 22 talent in a hurry, unless the players concerned have already
signalled a desire to leave when contracts expire. Haynes FA next year has been linked, and I can't help thinking Bam Bam's mate Perryman is a bloody good option for us. He doesn't get the big press, and is in and out. He is both fringe for them and being predominantly played out of position off half back when he is a genuine midfielder. I would be inclined to bypass Scully with his significant lower leg break sure to impact. We have O'Brien and likely Walsh to play that outside high production midfielder role.

Beams wants to get to Collingwood? Lachie Neale may change his mind about the lions - go get him to the blues!

Came here to say that. I would be getting Dane on a plane and doing a quick edit on Dylan Shiel's presentation. and presenting it to Dane.

Edit: Heard Barrett on the radio and apparently it is only collingwood.

I wonder if GWS would like to involve Setterfield in with the Bummers Shiel deal so they can push the Bummers for the required future pick or picks. Everybody knows that Dodoro is all take and no give and they won't want to give up a future first in a hurry. Sos has to keep Setters on track.

tell me what this picture means to you

That my friend, is pure beauty.

Gut feel - were waiting on the Shiel deal to go through to see the picks GWS hold prior to dealing on setters.

Future first into Setterfield and essendons pick 9 (maybe Jones or CAS on our side or Finlayson on their side).

Then 1, 9 & 42 to GC for 2&3.

If GC get 5 for May, then the king brothers at 5&9 seems very achievable.

If on trade night GC take Walsh at 1, then trade 2 to Adelaide for multiple firsts. If they take Lukosius, then we take Walsh and wait on offers on pick 3 before taking Rankine or Smith.

I have no issue trading next years first if it lands us some very good mature bodies.

We have the young talent now. More than enough. Even if we didn't have a first round next year it's no big deal. We will have around 30 players 22 and under on our list.

We need mature talent and it's why we went after Shiel. McGovern will be good and Setterfield will be a gun but he is young as well.

IMO our focus needs to be on the mid 20 range and if we can land 2-4 of them now it will really help

If you clear your mind
I think you'll find
Your posting left a lot to be desired
It was uninspired
If memory serves
I think I observed
Your same sad posting
Woe and roasting
about Setterfield
one, two, maybe in three different threads
All the same message
"Woe is me"
Where was your head?
As a fellow poster on this board
Since I hold no esteem
and we're on the same team
I gave out some solid advice
Pack it up
Rein it in
Pull the pin
Before you find yourself
in the sin bin

Shiel was a minor inconvenience
And while I might prefer lenience
Someone else clearly thought
You ought
To not be so scrappy
I'm pretty happy
With our trade period so far
Everything will be copacetic
SOS's skills are honourific
I may not be Decartes, Rene
But take heed of my philosophay
When the shit is piling up and the mods are ticked off
Think twice, post once, avoid the Molotov

Peace

POTY......Poetry. Of. The. Year.

In unrelated news, does anyone know how to like a post twice? ;)

I would back Gold Coast would do it with one of their picks.
Keep in mind most other clubs would view our 2019 first rounder a top 2 pick next year.

Unfortunately, without any big bodied A grader midfielders to add and only the youngsters improvement for 2019, I now fear I’m one of those ‘others’ as well. Just needed Shiel & Gaff types....

Some journo or might’ve been Lloyd put up * spine yesterday went something like this if I remember.
Hurley
Hooker
Shiel
Bellchambers
Stringer
Daniher

If we compare that to ours:
Weiters
Marchbank
Superstar
Kreuzer
Charlie/Mitch
Harry

Not saying it’s as good but definitely improving.

Our age profile looks more promising in that spine. Hurley, Hooker and Bellchambers all 30 or around the mark next year.

Going into next year, Kelly would be the last target on my list, better bang for your buck options, such as FA, the likes of Swallow, Coniglio, Cunningham, Wingard and a step down, Ellis, Haynes, Thomlinson etc

FREE!!!

Geez besides Coniglio and maybe Wingard, the rest aren't in the same stratosphere as Kelly.
