Wouldn't be surprised to see Port trade 6 + 10 + Hombsch to Gold Coast for Pick 3 + 29. Gold Coast take Lukosius at 2 then Rozee at 6. Just depends on whether they feel taking both the SA boys mitigates the go home factor. Port then take Rankine at 3 obviously. I feel like he is the one they are gunning for to be honest.
If Port trade Chad to Dogs for #7, then have #6, #7 and #10. And may still only get Hately...

...For them, or am I missing something? Huge difference this year between pick 3 and pick 6, let alone 7 and 10.

Have to agree.

Walsh, Smith, Lukosius, Rankine, Rozee the players we'd want.
Blakey goes to Sydney even if we bid.
Thomas goes to North, even if we bid.
The King twins not what we need.
Past that, it's Caldwell, Hately, Taylor, Hill, RCD, Quaynor.

That looks a significant drop-off. Only thing that should tempt us to move that far down is a top shelf mature midfielder.

Don’t shoot me all down however,
Surely your 2019 first round pick is worth a lot more than you are selling it for! Most likely to be a Pick 1 or 2 in 2019. If so, why trade this at all? Very silly if you ask me

You have done very well so far. Lock in McGovern, Setterfield, Fasolo, Pick 1 2018 and away you go.
Another year of development into your youngsters and preseason will do the world of good. No need to sell the farm!

It's hard to imagine 2019 being more injury-ravaged than this one. 6-8 wins for mine, which puts us in the pick 3-6 range. Still very valuable, but not quite golden.

i dont think so

If we use the points system, and we have 1 in 2018 and 2019, we'd need a pick near 13 to balance it up.

I would love to get 2&3 to trade to GWS for Kelly, Setterfield and whatever else we could squeeze out of them. Get our version of a youngster in Setterfield, a mature-ish mid in JK and whatever cream on top.

I guess given the injuries we have had, we suspect that our season next year will be more akin to 2016/17, rather than the results of this year.

If we did finish last next year, I still believe the top 6 this year is stronger than next year's top 6, so pick 2 & 3 this year makes sense

No doubt it could be on the table, but for the right deal

Would people be happy if we traded

Pick One for 2 & 3 and landed Smith & Rankine

then Next years first round and landed

Martin Setterfield Finlayson & Tyson

and we still had 3-4 picks in the draft after this

This years AND next years 1st would be required for picks 2&3.

im not fussed about points to balance it up, im keen to get good players into the club.

GC want Walsh

Says who exactly?

Gold Coast Sun are far FAR more likely to trade down, not trade up.

Port has pick 6 & 10. Trade Winguard to Dogs and maybe get 7.

Gold Coast give 2 & 3 for 6, 7 & 10.
Gold Coast trade May to Melbourne for pick 5 via Hogan to Freo trade.

So Gold Coast turn 2 & 3 & May into 5, 6, 7 & 10.
Or Gold Coast turn 2 & 3 & May into 1 & 5.

Sorry, I can't see Gold Coast wanting to deal with us just for Sam Walsh. What if in 2 years Walsh gets homesick?

IF my GC contact is even close to right and the value of 2 and 3 is truly that high to the Adelaide clubs (now supported by the Port and Freo trade);

#1 + 2019 1st for #2 + #3 + (something)

#2 to Adelaide for Crouch + Crouch + #16

#3 to Port Adelaide for Wingard + #10

List changes

Out: O'Shea, Mullett, Wright, Graham, Kerridge, Rowe, Lamb, (Byrne), (Casboult or Jones, preferably Levi), Silvagni, Shaw, Glass-McCasker

I think that entirely depends no what we do with the return. If we take it to the draft this year, then I entirely agree with you. However, if 2 and 3 are packaged up for mature players, then I think it's unlikely that our 2019 will be worth as much as it is currently.

You're not on your own with that thought. Some people seem to want to move it on for pennies in the $.
