I dont normally read a full match summary like that, but it was a bloody good read. The atmosphere wouldve been electric. Read like it was an all time classic game. Trying to find some footage...

Essendon will give up their 1st this year and next and GWS will give up another Pick 20 and Shiel. Negotiations 'hit a wall' every year until one side, in this case Essendon, caves in.
We've brought in three best 22 players (going early on Setters but that's par for the course) and likely another in whoever we take with Pick 1 this off-season anyway.
Shiel would have been nice, but Setterfield fits our age profile far better and allows us to go to the next two drafts with a first round pick and plenty of cap space to use on available free agents.

I agree. It can't be cheap scouting and then developing these players. Let's spend the time, money and energy on unearthing some rookie listed gems through the national draft - it's been a while since we have had any success in that area.
