I'm so excited by the trade outcomes I'm going to start another crappy thread.

What is our best forward setup now with these new additions?

I guess Tabs, Lobb, Hogan as the talls. We must play Walters as a forward despite the temptation to move him into the midfield to cover the loss of Neale, he is our best small forward. Ballas and Matera can fight it over over the other small forward spot. Plus one of the mids "resting" forward as part of their rotation.

Walters, Tabs, Mccarthy
Matera, Hogan, Ballas

I’d be happy with that. Lobb/Sandi as rucks. Man we ll be marking everything.

Mccarthy plays the fourth forward role. Tabs gets a second defender. He ll be even better especially down the ground

Switkowski finished the year pretty well would rather him than ballantyne. Need another medium/small forward in the draft

Especially with the new rules, we're gonna stretch a few defenses.

Tabs will roam chf, up the ground in a Nick Riewoldt style, Lobbster at true chf, Hogan at true FF. Combinations to mix and match to suit weather and match ups.

Hogan - Taberner - Langdon
Walters - Lobb - Ballantyne

Switkowski

Is along the lines of my R1 prediction.

I like Tabs to a "roaming" forward.

Why not :- Cox, Hogan + crumber ( prefer Walters ), Tabs, Lobb and "medium" ( that bloody useless Mundy ) .

Accepted they all move around, and your CHF quite regularly goes back to the goal square and the FF comes up the ground.

I like

Cox. Tabener. McCarthy

Walters. Hogan. Switkowski

Might be tall but strong leading talls up the ground and hogan to contest it one on one deep with Walters and switkowski at their feet. Happy to grab Hill in the draft to make the small forward depth stronger

Tough one

Cerra - Lobb - Cox/McCarthy
Walters - Hogan - Bennell/Matera/Switta/I.Hill

It's been said regularly that McCarthy would be a decent third forward, well now is his chance. Cox didn't do much wrong last year though. Taberner very unlucky, I just can't squeeze another hulking forward like him in alongside Hogan and Lobb.

Bell could very well be the catalyst to get Bennell back on track. Matera as a permanent forward pocket could clean up down there. Switta the unknown. Ian Hill a very good chance to get to us at pick 14 (hoping Jordan Clark slides there though)

Agree cox is better than Tabener - get cox at CHF and Hogan at FF.

Then rotate the two and Taberner can compete with Cox.

Switkowski I like the sounding of that as crumber.

Walters, Tabs, Mccarthy

Incredible forward line - You guys should be rapt.

You got Hogan and Lobb quite cheaply - Easily the winners of trade week!

Cox, Hogan, Lobb as the talls.

Develop Cox as a forward, so much more potential than Tabs/CamMac.
Except when confronted with a couple of goal posts he can barely hit the side of a barn with fistful of wheat.

With so many options forward I'd look at swinging him down back.

So many forwards now?

- Hogan
- Lobb
- Cox
- Taberner
- McCarthy
- Walters
- Ballantyne
- Matera
- Fyfe floating?
- Logue?

In reserve:

- Apeness
- Dixon
- Strnadica?
- Darcy?

We’re probably now a couple ahead in terms of ruck/forward types.

Apeness certainly wouldn’t have got an extension if they’d waited until the end of the year.

You’d think a couple of those will have to go by the end of next season, even if they find some form.

These are problems I’m not familiar with FFC having.

IMO, my ideal forward line for next year

Hogan key forward, Taberner gut running tall that works the wings like Nick Riewoldt did (but closer in ability to Ash Hansen), McCarthy as third tall / tall flanker.

Smalls: Walters, Matera, Ballantyne (or some young bloke who replaces Ballantyne).

Lobb and Sandilands switch between the ruck, forward, and on the bench. Sandilands plays reduced in exchange with Darcy who is still learning the ropes

Cox goes to the backline. The rest of the talls are backup and/or future delist candidates.

Yeah strongly disagree with throwing him back.

As i've said before, I think it's fixable because he has shown, especially earlier in the year, that he can kick accurately with the correct approach and set up. It's mental rather than physical and can be worked on. I think he's shown more as a 20 year old than Tabs has as a 25 year old frankly.

it's time we bring back Pav.. As a forward line coach, we've got the players now & let's be honest.. he's not that great on Ch9 news (sorry Pav) & it feels like the timing is right.

Plenty of back up for Tabs next season, should he go down with a major injury again.
Peel is going to be afflicted with an excess of tall forwards once more.
At least we know that Jessie can slot into CHB, should he overcome his injury woes.
