True although he will go via FA so they will still get something even if it is less than our offer. On top of this he could well stay if Kelly looks like heading out the door.

Exactly. Kelly goes & they have a truck load of cash to keep him. Who knows if they win a flag, they may all stay

And I said can't be done and satisfy the rule taking 2 first round picks in a 4 year period in 2019.

So there needs to be a workaround organised. Requires a trade guru to get it done.

I thought the rule stated that you needed to take 2 first round picks in 4 years, otherwise you can't trade a future first rounder.

We took 2 in 2015, so would be fine to trade away the 2019 now- but come next year, unless we trade back into 2019- we won't be able to trade our 2020 pick?

If GWS want to keep him then let them.

He clearly wants to come here and is a RFA next year, remember the deal Geelong got for Dangerfield under similar circumstances?

If Carlton seriously offer pick 1 for Shiel, I would let it go through. Then I would be offering Pick 9 and next years first for that pick (Sam Walsh). Front end a whole lot of contracts with our free salary cap and then get Kelly (FA) next year ahead of North.

Wont be able to afford Kelly our cap would be almost full after getting Shiel what ever money we have left needs to be kept for players like Parish,McGrath etc on thier next contract.

Read his post again!

I was suggesting get Sam Walsh instead of Shiel which frees up salary cap.

GWS wouldn't trade pick 1 imo

The love grows. B4L, you should write for Monty Python.

We'll have broken the rule taking only 1 pick (2016) in a 4 year period. Sure the league could loophole it your way, but this is the same league that did Leroy Jetta for staging.

No you wont get some one better at pick 9 in the draft than Shiel

Uh.. there's a good chance someone after pick 8 ends up being better than Shiel, not guaranteed and it probably wouldn't be whoever was picked at 9 but it can happen...

Here's my beef...

IF the story about the afl live broadcast being the reason for the hold in any announcement is legit then it just allows them to perpetuate the hard to deal with shit in the media and around thr 'football world' which maybe doseht really matter in the grand scheme, but it's a tag we have tried hard to shake.
