If we keep Pick 1 and draft Sam Wash = :D:D:D

If we trade Pick 1 for 3&6 = :D:D:D

My opinion is that there will be hardly a trade in the 1st round though. The easist way to lose a longterm job as a List Manager is to stick your head out and get it wrong. I think the 18 List Managers will be cautious and seeing that all 18 are competant i can't see anyone getting a clear "win". Therefore i think caution will reign.

The exception is Gold Coast. Not because they are incompetant now, but because they have unique circumstances right now. They have a whole set of issues that no other club has.

The 2 trades that i've long thought are "some" chance are:

GC swap 3&6 for Sam Walsh.

or

GC trade Pick 3, 24 and 29 for Adelaide's Picks 8, 13 and 15.

I've posted my reasons for both before.

Besides GC, maybe StKilda might swap 4 for Adelaide's 8 & 13 if they think one of their supposed list of six is a chance of getting to 8.

It's gonna be a fun 3 weeks though. Even though the rule changes have kinda killed the interest in Phantom's post trade week it has added a lot of time for speculation. And every FigBootier loves a bit of good ol speculation.

Modifying the interchange numbers will have next to no effect on congestion, things that will though
  • Throwing the ball up straight away at a stoppage
  • Throwing the ball in straight away from a boundary throw in
  • Eliminating nominations for a ruck contest
  • Stop interchange movements after a goal/ball up/boundary throw in
As a recruitment strategy, if they do reduce the number of interchanges, draft players that can play multiple positions, such as midfielders, allowing them to get a breather while resting forward.

It is not the best endurance players that have the advantage, it is the players that return to normal heart rate quicker

Who’s ur top 6 arrow in draft

Think you would have to factor in additional picks

Trading our 1st next year, while receiving the Lions 1st
I'd rather start with our future 3rd, and milk the supposed premium that Walsh is worth.

I was adamant we were locked into Walsh but the more I think about it the more I think we will trade the pick if this offer is real. Bring in 3 and 6 then trade 3 for 5 and 15. We go to the draft with 5,6 and 15.
We won't be able to do either of those trades without offering a little more up, and that would mean throwing our future first into the mix. That requires AFL approval, so we'd want to make sure it was a good deal for us to improve our list long term, or they won't approve it.

Have the medicos cleared Smiths Achilles bursitis? Im thinking he'll slide. Also you have the wrong King. Ben is the higher rated and uninjured.
Max is definitely the higher rated brother.

Cal Twomey is hinting at a Top 8 in his latest column as:

1. Carlton: Walsh (possibly Lukosius)
2. GC: Lukosius (Walsh if there)
3. GC: Rankine
4. StKilda: M.King (possibly Smith)
5. Port: Rozee
6. GC: Caldwell
7. WB: Smith
8. Adelaide: B.King

Couple of rumours on the D&T boards.

GC going for the SA trifecta with Hately. (Poster claiming this from a loose lipped Craig Cameron.)
Port keen on Smith. (Source, Mother of Bailey)

Would depend who you talk to I suppose. Max is injured and while he has proven himself as a forward its Ben who has shown he is just as capable up forward as he is downback. Ben is a ridgy-didge swingman so I reckon of the two he gets picked first.
His versatility counts against him when you watch the production of his brother.

I always take notice of what you write Dravid:thumbsu:.....but parents are just lovely aren't they:)

A couple years ago a mate of mine's son was highly rated. The ol man was convinced that 3 clubs had promised to use their 1st Rounder on him in interviews. He went mid 2nd Round after all those 3 clubs passed(once twice) and he ended up going to another club altogether.

In saying that, it has been mentioned by others that Smith is in Port's mix. As he should as they hold 5 and 10. Likely to be strongly considered at 5 and a small chance to be there at 10.

If carlton trade pick 1 for 3 and 6 the word is going around they will take Rankine with pick3 and smith with pick 6.
bingo...and thats why we should do it...if offered....unless walsh is the next judd, and that much better, than the rest,id do it in a heartbeat.

Rozee and Smith would be ideal. Doubt it though. Would be stoked with a two for one. We need bulk talent and I think the Walsh hype is a bit extreme.

Contacted my mate, who rang his ADE source.

He’s heard a couple of things in light of the proposed trade for 3&6 and also the supposed visit by Lukosius and Rozee. He threw this up. 1 - Walsh, 2 - King, 3 - Lukosius, 4 - King, 5 - Rankine, 6 - Rozee. PA are apparently keen on Rankine to replace Wingard and reckon on him falling. GC want Walsh and also a KPP to replace Lynch. He thinks GC will go King as Lukosius won’t be KP, rather utility, and the fail to remain in QLD is a factor. He thinks the two SA boys mentioned would stay and play in Vic, doesn’t think Rankine would though from what he’s heard.

If all this scuttlebutt is true, I’d be happy with what he’s thrown up.
