He was completely overhyped in his draft year (Mike Sheahan writing him up as a top ten option and the next Dustin Fletcher was hilarious - I’m guessing because they were goofy looking, super skinny backmen) but the poor bloke didn’t stand a chance.

He basically sabotaged his own career.

Probably best exemplified by the fact that in his last year, he pretended to be sick to get out of playing a game. I’m not sure how many blokes would say no to another appearance and a match payment - especially when you might snag a win as it was up on the Gold Coast - but it says a bit.

A Carlton supporter once tried telling me he didn’t follow his diet plan and would straight out just say ‘nah’ when trainers handed him a protein shake or whatever. Rumour of course.
