Can you provide us some examples of this poor one on one ability?

That is fundamentally Walker and Jenkins key strength and exactly why teams work hard to stop it.

I don't know if you watched the game yesterday, but the ball rarely (if ever) was delivered to our talls on an one on one situation.

Kane is right however, our mids did keep kicking to the same spots, those spots always jad multiple Hawks players.
Teams always work hard to stop a forward winning one on ones, so that’s hardly something developed for Jenkins and Tex.

By one on ones I meant marking, they are poor contested marks. I can’t show you examples of when they don’t, but I can’t find examples of when they do either, so that proves my point. Tex 1 contested mark, Jenkins 0. You can’t tell me they had no opportunities to take more than 1 contested mark in 120 minutes of football.

Hell, you're brave. ;)
I got trampled for saying Keath had an ineffective game.
If Keath had an ineffective game there was 21 that had more ineffective games. Trust me Keath is not the problem. He can play and was imho our best or top 3. The problems go deeper than 1 player. Problem start from the top and infiltrate down like a cancer.

we're somehow slim favorites vs Sydney atm. Likely due to their notorious slow starts

We'll go in as favourites against Sydney at the SCG??

Maybe slight favourites against Geelong solely because we're at home, but that's about it.

Definitely not against Sydney though.

This is yet one more example of the club being too soft, it would hurt Jacobs feelings if we traded in another ruckman.

Ffs blind Freedy can see (saw over the last 18 months) how stuffed Sauce is, yet we failed to address it.

Really mind boggling how complacent we are on field (selections) and off field (list management).

Very easy to see why its been 20+ years since our last flag, our Dynasty of Complacency still has many years to go.

Thankyou Mr Chapman and thank you Mr Trigg.

“You try telling Sammy he’s not playing this week”

And it’s not just one on ones , it’s also being able to neutralise a 2 on 1 which they both clearly couldn’t do yesterday

no I'm telling you, the bookies have us as slight favorites currently.

For all those on here bagging our forwards as the reason we lost, sorry but you are wrong!
Tony Locket would struggle to get a touch with the delivery they were receiving, Hawks had numbers behind the ball all day and pressured the delivery so it was crap. The forward in me compels me to stand up for these guys, there was some shots missed but the blame lies up the field.

What I really enjoyed yesterday was our frightened players hesitating slightly to get into contests, or just plain ball watching, while simultaneously not standing Hawk players positioned outside the contest. Greenwood and CEY would have done really well in that game, they don't hesitate and don't wet the bed.

True, but our fowards don't win contests also. Not entirely their fault, we pick them, we choose not to draft forwards who love a contest.

Keith's defensive work and his intercept marking was good but my good his ball movement was soooo slooow and was a large part of the failure.

Gibbs seems lost, with Brad and Sloane fit he’s not one of our 3 key mids.
I’d have him on the chopping board and think I’d bring greenwood in for him in a couple of weeks unless he improves

Smith was awful but did you see him on the mid in the last quarter ? He seemed to give us something there but the move was made too late to effect anything

I wonder if we may start him there or move him there earlier this week and play Gibbs back

While there were a few of the usual suspects we needed more running power and speed in that game, not less.

Would you expect anything less from an AFC outfit as we have been soft for 20 years.

Even if we made the 4 this year based on what we saw yesterday we will have another finals blowout. The whole culture and creed of this club needs to change before we win another premiership. Can't see that ever happening.

By that stage I was on my 8th beer and was too numb with disappointed to focus.

Was he on the wing or middle?

Did notice that as well, looked like they were instructed to let the hawk in first and tackle if it is 50/50. The only ones going against this were Crouch x 2 and Sloane, probably went against their DNA.
