If Charlie fit, have to play him. Perfect time to bring him back after yesterday’s win and have him play in a team that’s playing confident. Question is, who makes way? May need to make a tough call on one of the other talls, but not Harry though.

If Cuners fit, then be great to see him back in.

Don’t subscribe to the “don’t change a winning team” thing. Teams that win regularly make changes from week to week. Got to get your best onto the park. Also, don’t see why a player not performing should get gifted a game simply because his teammates played well, especially when there’s other players pushing for selection.

Of course you can make changes ...each week you are playing a different team so you need to select players that best match the opposition....however you don't bring in curnow even if fit because his output has been poor this year...somethin is clearly wrong.. when he is fit he needs a run in the seconds to get going again

Curnow playing in the magoos? No. Just no.

Why not?

He's still young...I don't want him getting a big head and thinking he can just coast and deliver sub-par performances and still be best 22 every week.
He has no doubt been the worst of our 4 tall forwards this year to date.

I can't see the 4 talls working personally...i think we were much better balanced today than last week.

But McKay is a lock, Casboult has actually been good this year and McGov has also been playing better than Charlie...Charlie has been really poor this year, i'm all for giving him a wake up call by playing him in the 2s.

Though for the Hawks game specifically i'd like to see him not play at any level...clearly having ongoing issues with his knee.

Caro’s SOP in a situation like this will be to talk down the doggies big time. In so doing, in her mind, she’ll minimise any praise due to Carlton. She’ll be talking up unrest at Witten Oval re The coach and I can guarantee if she talks SPS and Harry it will be with a dismissive “it was one week”.
I hope so. Last thing I want is her sanctimonious praise. Think about this. She knows her mob got one lucky flag playing an odd kind of footy and are going to sink back down again. Just like Footscray the same. She knows we are putting together a side that can dominate with traditional football and champions on every line. No wonder she is bitter.
Yes one win is one win. We have a way to go. Eventually parasites like her will say oh yes we could see what you were building. In the meantime we dont need the media jumping onboard. Bolts wont let them get ahead of themselves.

Carro Wilson to juddy - "Are you concerned about the development of petrevski seton and harry mckay".
Just proves that she’s just a shit stirrer that knows sfa about the game. Tell me which credible football watcher can’t see Harry’s freakish assets of agility for a 200cm fwd ,he’s incredible marking and nice left foot? And who can’t see that SPS’s skill both sides and time with ball in hand is special.
She should stick to her Eddie and Sam bashing it suits her better.

Bont got the kick away to a teammate, don't think it counts as an effecrive tackle. Harsh, given without it he probably pumps it to within 30m of goal.

Another example of why you can't just look at stats to judge a players game.

Gotta watch the games and use your eyes to really see a players' impact on a game.

Will pen my thoughts after watching the replay later today.

The competition for spots is intense and will become even more intense.

There is a legitimate case for Charlie to earn his spot via the VFL.

Williamson a shining light in the VFL yesterday, probably needs another 3 games under his belt to press for Senior duties. Kennedy building, not really match fit. Lang has a way to go until match fit, there is a place for him in the 22 if he gets there. Stocker building. Macreadie playing again. Schumacher’s been Senior 22 emergency a few times. Be interesting to see which way Garlett goes.

Setterfield available week after next and probably a legitimate case to ear his spot via the VFL too.

Cuningham out injured, probably 1-2 VFL games and back in the Senior 22.

After that I think it’s TDK, Pickett and Docherty.

And LeBois. Everyone keeps forgetting LeBois! Including the club.

An observation from yesterday's game. I was sitting right behind the Carlton bench. Halfway through the first quarter Cripps came to the bench and grabbed Docherty's whiteboard and put a whole lot of dots on the board. I have no idea what was being said but it was great to see how the captains worked with each other.

What a great game to be at. How much fun was Harry's run even though he missed.

They were playing noughts and crosses........?

I'm afraid that Curnow will need to morph into riewoldt and roam the ground taking marks and causing mayhem. The twin towers of the Gov and Mckay have the forward fifty sorted for the next 8 years.
I actually think that was what he was born for. Huge engine, great hands and when he concentrates a great kick. Who could match up with him in that role? (Considering class defenders required for the others)

Amazing what a win does for the confidence of not only the players but us supporters also.
Just checked out our next 5 and hard pressed to see where we would drop a game. Pies maybe...50-50 game at this stage. 😆
Only 2 games outside the 8, percentage healthy enough. Are we talking finals yet or best to keep the lid on for a few more weeks? 🤷‍♂️
Seriously though the emotions felt after last weeks loss vs those felt after the win epitomises the agony and the ecstasy of the game. I know, I know we mustn’t get too low with the losses nor too high with the wins...but still 🎉🎉🎉

Said it before and I’ll say it again, some players got to know their limitations! Refuses to give first option then ends up giving a poor option that puts a team mate under pressure thus causing a turn over.
He’s decision making is dumb. Marchbank poor by foot too many times for my liking too and we can’t have 2 players coming out of defence like that, ones enough thx so for me when the opportunity presents itself Willo in Plow out- it makes us better

Completely disagree about Plow.

You need to open your eyes (and probably your mind as well).

He was excellent today and is very good most weeks.

He usually gets the opposition best forward each week and has had the ball coming in at a million kph most weeks for the last 2 years.

He has the shittiest job in the team - and does it very well.

The $33 gets you the basic package (plenty of channels there) + sports (all the sports channels except main event).

So $8 per month more, you can stream in multiple rooms through the Foxtel go app (using apple TV)

As you said they are the same company broadcasting the same sports package, im just pointing out that Foxtel isn't a LOT more expensive as you suggest.

Hey, it's a free world.

However. the cheapest budget package for Foxtel available today is $58 per month, "discounted" from $88 - and that's basicly sport plus a load of old shite.

For that you can have Kayo, plus Netflix plus Stan plus Spotify premium for your music and have 5 bucks left over.

The irony for me is that after last week is the one time they did get way low after a loss. It was in their faces. And it was the right moment for that to happen. They responded and deserve to be too high right now for a day or two.

Charlie’s last game he managed 17 disposals, 9 marks and a goal, playing forward in a losing team which had very scrappy ball movement with Gold Coast suns.

Not bad for a player out of form and carrying something. Added, one who demands the best opposition defender.

Think with Charlie the expectations are huge. Even when down, he’s still our most dangerous forward, although Harry is closing quickly.

Ed Curnow, discuss...

As we are not tagging I can see him on the outer very soon, couldn’t get near it...

Lang will take his spot or Cunningham.
I agree.
He was very quiet yesterday. Must be frustrating for him to be played out of position.

17:01 in the second quarter - it came up in the replay JUST as I saw this post - holy smoke. That is sooo bad.

That was a free kick every day of the week, he may have overplayed it but doesn’t matter.

One thing I noticed watching the game live and on replay is how close to the line Newman goes to a free kick, different week/different umpires would be paying them. He needs to clean it up a bit.

Don’t know why he pushed the bulldog player in the back in the square, all he had to do was concentrate bashing the ball over the line from the high bounce. Even more ridiculous was how the umpire didn’t see it, was as blatant as you would ever see

I understand the logic. It’s just not going to happen.

Watched the replay last night... literally astounds me that anyone could be negative a about Plowman’s game. He was excellent - both defensively and in his execution and decision making.

And there’s just something about Gibbons in the midfield... looked dangerous and a little golden nugget, and i honestly can’t wait to see what he will be producing as he gets some more games under his belt.

And Jack - his versitility has made him extremely valuable and dangerous around the ground. He was helping us link up on the wing and half forward when that has been such an achilles heel the first few weeks. And dare i say it, the boy has put on some muscle!! Very excited.
