This thread is simply extraordinary. It's no more than a licensed pile on by a bunch of blokes who haven't a clue what a game plan looks like let alone any idea of the finer details of man management across a group of 45 odd mostly young men.

Leaving aside the small detail of 17 other similar organisations trying to do similar against our one but better.

How in the world have we made finals the past however many years with such a shit coach/game plan/list manager/veteran group/fringe group/selection process/skill set/you name it.

Now I appreciate the need to let off steam and if it was confined to this thread maybe it would be tolerable but it's now infected almost every bloody thread on the Swans board.

The same 6-10 posters. Over and over.

And if you object or even debate you get labelled a fan boy with rose coloured glasses or worse. Some rookie poster got told to leave the forum the other day. Thankfully that post was deleted by mods.

Thank god our players have more character than many of our so called supporters.

In the ‘all things being equal season’ (which is really the ONLY thing you can go by as we all start from a level playing field...not predictions), we win the Woeful Cup Ted, they beat us, they’re better than us!

Yeah I guess we beat West Coast, Pies, Cats, Melbourne, Hawks last year so we were better than the two Grand Finalists.

Understand your sentiment mate.

We're all here supporting the club one way or another.

Some like to keep on the optimistic side while others are pessamists. Noone is right or wrong. We can all support the side however we see fit.

If a poster wants to shut the whole club down & start again as the Northern Beaches Sparrows then that is their opinion... They have every right to have it & express it here. In their mind they are trying to do what they think is best for the club. Who says they aren't any better/worst a supporter than the next poster?!

Likewise, if you feel they are overreacting then you can suggest that & the reasons why... telling them they aren't "real" supporters or how/what they post is "wrong" (how can an opinion be wrong?!) is something none of us want to see.

Of course there are posters who are upset, angry, frustrated & disillusioned. Just as there are supporters who are positive, optomistic & perhaps have those rose-coloured glasses you mentioned.

Neither are right or wrong.

We love this club & we all want success. One way or the other. Discuss. Debate. Listen. Learn. Dispute. Comment... Engage constructively & you will be rewarded. Attack posters & their "worth" & you will be dealt the same in all likelihood (& in the process continue the same back & forth attacks you have picked up on as displeasurable).

At the beginning of last season, how many points ahead or behind us were each of those teams?
What do you think ‘all things being equal’ is? I’ll tell you, it’s ‘all things being equal’ and at that time it was us v them.
Here’s a stat based on our season so far at Rd 5...Melbourne 1 - Sydney 0. The comparison is Melbourne...the only indicator that matters. Who’s more woeful?

How so?

You cannot deny that we have brought youngsters in who are very talented and who have filled needs that were glaring in our list. It's his job to get the right players on the list.

It's then up to the senior coach to do something with those players. Beatson's done his job, whether Horse has is yet to be determined. But all signs point towards a big fat NO on that one.

I don't have an opinion on this. Just raising it as a discussion point.
I guess we have failed to lure a 'big fish' mature recruit in the last few years but we have faced a trade ban and a salary cap issue so hands tied there.
I think the trade ban had quite a huge negative impact.

Many years ago, I would’ve most likely agreed with you but my economics lecturer showed me the true reasoning of ‘all things being equal’ and of all the parameters given, there’s one thing that stands out. We played them one on one, same conditions blah blah blah and they won! I wonder how a neutral ground would’ve changed that...I guess we’ll never know!
