I still enjoyed it, and the storyline is a lot less clunky than what it read from WikipediaYeah, we were blown away by them too
This is disappointing to hear though. Do you know if you had any understudies?
We did, albeit in Melbourne, but still felt they did a great job. Then again, I've probably come to always expect a degree of it due to the bolded.
There was an unofficial HP-themed play last year (Puffs) and it remains the most honest stage performance I've ever seen.
Great/original /canon-compliant plot too, but as the budget was smaller, the special effects paled in comparison to CC.
Enjoy tonight too![]()
I particularly enjoyed the flashbacks that tie in with the books, and how well they depict Albus’s early years in such a short space of time. Why do you hate Toovey?I was saying boooourns

No, they’re not particularly common in London and I didn’t live in the right part of Perth or Melbourne for Alan to sleep up thereNever had possums in you roof have you Tarks?

You probably need to worry more about chavs, gypsies and which tax haven you should be hiding your money in.No, they’re not particularly common in London and I didn’t live in the right part of Perth or Melbourne for Alan to sleep up there
Some should be so lucky.
Yeah the flashbacks, references , school scenes and also the intergenerational scenes were some of the highlightsI still enjoyed it, and the storyline is a lot less clunky than what it read from WikipediaI particularly enjoyed the flashbacks that tie in with the books, and how well they depict Albus’s early years in such a short space of time.

I’ll reply to this properly and in more depth this weekend (in SW) to avoid spoilers. Basically , I have a different view on Draco /his portrayal. Funnily enough , I thought it was his son Scorpius who was exaggerated . I agree that Hermione and Minerva were true to character. Thanks for taking me back to highschool literature with the cognitive dissonance phrase thoughWithout wanting to go into spoiler territory, I’ll generally explain what I was saying before. Draco for instance has none of his established personality from the books or movies, and comes across as pathetic. I don’t think the scripting about him whining about not having any friends and wanting to be like Harry, Ron and Hermione is true to the established narrative at all and just comes across as hugely forced and creates so much cognitive dissonance compared to everything that you already understand about the character. He’s not the only character to have such a huge turnaround in their nature/behaviour and basically all are detrimental and borderline unbelievable. Couple with the over-accentuated acting and it’s a huge recipe for disaster and a lesson in how not to change the arc on pre-developed characters of another format. Hermione and Minerva were the highlights for me, both in terms of acting and staying true to the original series.
. This is the most important thingStill looking forward to seeing tonight though.

Oh Scorpius is ridiculously OTT too, although I’d actually put that down more to the actor. Draco was just the example I could think of that wouldn’t ruin the story for anyone that intends on seeing it down the track.Yeah the flashbacks, references , school scenes and also the intergenerational scenes were some of the highlights

Initially, I did too , because his portrayal on the screen was a caricature and nothing like the sensitive intellectual I had in my head based on the script. Your response , and also the reminder that the script was written for the play (rather than the other way around ) made me reconsider that view though.Oh Scorpius is ridiculously OTT too, although I’d actually put that down more to the actor.
I hope I can see it again before it closes in Feb . Or else in London further down the track .Draco was just the example I could think of that wouldn’t ruin the story for anyone that intends on seeing it down the track.
I don’t think you would’ve accepted the view from my £15 tickets haha.Initially, I did too , because his portrayal on the screen was a caricature and nothing like the sensitive intellectual I had in my head based on the script. For a rewatch , I’d jump at that price or even double that priceI don’t think you would’ve accepted the view from my £15 tickets haha.![]()

I suggested we should’ve bought more expensive seats. For a rewatch , I’d jump at that price or even double that price
You don’t want to know how much we paid for our seats
No regrets though!

Sure, if you’re happy to pay for the tickets.Let’s go!

Haha understandable . Seriously that price is a bargain though , even if they were extremely restricted viewing.I suggested we should’ve bought more expensive seats.
My partner shut that idea down pretty quickly for me when she told me how much it would’ve cost for halfway decent seats![]()
.Not a single empty seat. We had to book these like six months out too. Think it might be a similar story in Melbourne?Haha understandable . Seriously that price is a bargain though , even if they were extremely restricted viewing.
The cheapest ones available in Melbourne were still $65 per person per part
We paid well over double (closer to triple) that on tickets alone (albeit great seats) because we’re suckers.
I’m just glad that some of the trip was tax deductible for the conference /course and that we won in the footy . Spent a fortune (not as much as I did on GF week, but close) but worth it.
You made the right decision to see it in London . I suspect prices would’ve been more expensive in London when it first came out , but it has now been around for a few years now.
Were there many empty seats in the theatre ?
To the Tarkyn_24 show. 8 goals, 0 assists and 14 attempts on goal coming up.Where?
Sold out for us too. Some people didn’t take their seats until minutes before it started (they were presumably in the lobby getting drinks/snacks or checking out the merchandise stall) so we didn’t realise it until the end. We bought tickets in the presale back in July 2018 .... for April 2019 . By the time we got into the queue , January and most of February were gone. Could’ve picked March but April just worked out better in terms of timing. Not a single empty seat. We had to book these like six months out too. Think it might be a similar story in Melbourne?
Barrybran - I’ll play for the Gumbies as a once off this week if you play me at FB on Tarkyn_24 . I’ll use my “elite” defensive skills to keep him to “only” 3 goals again and also beat him in the territory battle like I did on the weekend . Thank me laterTo the Tarkyn_24 show. 8 goals, 0 assists and 14 attempts on goal coming up.
