Macca I will start responding in kind if you keep going, move on

That statement isn't as threatening as you think, especially as the statement you quote you are going to respond to "in kind" is simply a measured statement of fact.

But I will move on but I will just say this, if you really want a "respectful debate" you need to really listen to what the other side is saying. The fact you repeatedly ignored my contention that Dow and Fisher were close but instead continued to argue Fisher was in front shows you weren't listening to (or worse deliberately ignoring) what was being said. That isn't being respectful and is incredibly irritating.

Richmond have given Castagna a 2 year deal, leaving Butler, Bolton and Baker uncontracted.

My preference is Bolton, but the other two would also be worth a look. Suspect one will be on the way out, probably Butler since he's been banished to the VFL.

Macca, you were presented the facts, which is not an opinion, Fisher is clearly ahead in 19 of 30 categories. His DE of is in another postcode compared to Dow currently, also a fact, yet you are saying I am clutching at straws?

Give up, before you continue to embarrass yourself

That, Macca, is why I now refrain from entering into any discussion with that poster, welcome to the club.

Contracting the worst of their small forwards was a strange move. Let's jump on Bolton for sure.

I reckon they’d want to much for Bolton.

Baker seems the most attainable for a reasonable price, probably more consistent than Bolton too.

Wouldn’t go near Butler.

Bolton should be targeted, the other two are relatively meh.

To not pursue Bolton because of what we may (or in this case definitely do not) have on our list would be asinine.

Not for me.

Focus is on mature ready made bodies now. Get that right and with our developing midfield I don't see kicking goals or having a functioning forward line as an issue at all

The window for recruiting mature bodies and their significant impact on the team has unfortunately passed. I mean, there's no particular hindrance to pursuing mature bodies at the end of 2019, but to what end?

Dow will be reasonably solid next year, Stocker will be shredded, Cuningham will be really solid, Setterfield should be solid, Kennedy ought to be solid too.

We tried hard but missed the boat. Now it's Russell's turn to get the young midfielders strong enough.

Who else do we genuinely have who can play as a silky small forward? I think Shai would be a tremendous pick up.

No I a man saying you are strawmanning, that is arguing a topic different to the one being argued by your opponent because it is easier to knock down. That is not clutching at straws.

Your argument is that Fisher is/was ahead of Dow - I agree.

My argument is that the twos second year stats are very close, which your stats prove, which is at odds with the difference in people's reactions to the twos performances, like calls for Dow to be dropped. You seem to agree with this statement.

Yet despite the two of us agreeing on the facts and the opinions you continue to "debate" because you are debating something I am not.

I disagree. Even next year our young players will still be young. It takes 2-3 pre seasons and a minimum 50 games to be at least ready and we have a number of them.

Dow O'Brien Stocker Cuningham Setterfield Walsh will be better next year but not even close to their best. When you have a group of them it's even harder.

It will take time. IMO getting a Bolton is patch work stuff and would waste a good pick we can't afford.

Pursuing Bolton won't be for the now. It has never been about the now.
We have options for the now, but we refuse to use them.

Mainly Edward Curnow through the midfield for the first 9 weeks. And this week Matthew Kennedy ought to be available, perhaps Darcy Lang too.

We don't need anything spectacular from these guys, just to absorb some hits and provide some physical presence. The Cripps + kids combo did really well in clearances up until a couple of weeks ago. Alas, the time has come upon us for change and wise management.
