I only had it on in the background (might be dreaming) but did I hear PCL?
Yeah, they're saying PCL, but question is if surgery is required. If its not, could only be out the same as Riewoldt.

Having had a couple of knee injuries one being an ACL I can only see it being bone bruising or PCL

Most likely PCL the way he was walking around after the game.

Yeah looked that way

Was looking super too on a compact ground

Seemed a little of pace , under weight even

Got to feel for him. Took the salary whack, did the hard yards to get back, gets an impact injury. Could still be a handy inclusion come finals but you would think the odds are against him.

It’s a shame. His career is done. Give or take 12 weeks takes us to mid August. Given how poor our VFL side is there will be limited (if any) opportunity to get match fitness into wells and you can’t trust him going into a final without it

Unless he can stay fit and get back in 8-9 weeks I’m not sure how he can play

Got to feel for us too.

A fit Wells and we’re another level.

Three months. That’s way too long.
Up to 3 months. He's obviously not having the surgery because they think he may get back sooner than 3 months and he's giving himself an outside chance to take part in our final's campaign.

I’m guessing he’s done, sadly.

But thoughts on the likelihood he might get offered a 1-year contract next year for small amount of $? I’d be surprised but given the salary cap pressures, maybe a small contract would be worth a risk?

It's looking unlikely he'll come back, which is a damn shame for the club and him.He showed glimpses of what he could do in that first half the other night. He is without a doubt the classiest ball user at the club and would have been an asset in the finals,if he could only get his body right.

He knows the state of play, out of contract, 35 next year, not likely to be renewed. So he's rolling the dice on a last crack at September, and good luck to him.

Even after he's back he'll need multiple VFL games at a minimum to get fitness and touch back.

If we didn't roll the dice with Moore in finals I don't see us doing it with Wells
We didn`t roll the dice with Moore as he rolls the dice for himself, will not declare himself ready to go unless in "his" mind he is 100 per cent comfortable in his body.

Wells was unlucky in the sense that he injured his MCL. Falling on your knees at such speeds causes a high impact shearing force that moves the tibia posteriorly. This puts extreme pressure on the PCL and can lead to tears. Unfortunately, depending on the nature of the impact, more than one important structure can be injured.

Here’s to a speedy recovery!

15 games for the pies and injured in at least 3 of them and managed in 2..

Shocking decision by the club

Hang them up wells and help coach the kids

How much better have we looked generally in those games though

Maybe a bit harsh to call it a shocking decision by the club. These last couple injuries haven't exactly been old man breaking down type injuries that we feared would plague him after his start at the club. Coming back from a lisfranc at his age and now going against surgery to try to prolong his career, as frustrating as it is, shows he certainly hasn't given up. Hopefully most of us won't be giving up on him either.
