Bolton keeps saying in the press conferences that he wants them to be bold. Take the hard kick. Pull the trigger.

I wonder if it’s true? If it is then we need to give him more time maybe?

I've seen very limited evidence of this at all. when they pull the trigger its the wrong time most of the time. out of the backline its a disgrace. Plowman and Marchbank would have to be the dumbest footballers of all time the amount of times they just make the wrong call at the wrong time or just far too long to make one. Pick 3 and Pick 6 respectively but they could not have shown this amount of brain fades as frequently at junior level surely?? You don't go top 5 or 6 in your draft with that amount of decision making errors at junior level. SOS got very few wrong at GWS based on their output as a team particularly with his high picks. its a system thing I'm sure of it. If Plowman and Marchbank stayed at GWS they'd both be playing well - they were highly rated there.

I couldn't care less how 'exciting' our playing style is if we are winning. I would take boring, congested defensive wins any day over flashy losses.

How sad is it that my head, heart and soul aches for a flashy loss.. .:'(

Yes the evidence is looking that way. Also agree on those 2 players. Personally I think it’s too complicated for youngsters. Let them free Bolts. Please!!!

Keep it simple FFS.

Also think our spread from contest lacks as well. Just like my auskickers it’s like moths to a flame.

Can we please set up the outer rim as well please.

You want to lose by a 100 every week. Thats what could happen with no discipline and full carte blanche. Thats for next year at earliest.

We could get a new coach in and lose most of our games so we have a new person to blame because that's what's worked so well for us the past 18 years.

Forget the coach for now, fix the other problems and if we're still not winning then get a new coach.

If we can't fix the other problems then find out why and fix that problem if we can.

The coach, and his team, are the problem.

We got this one wrong. Rip the band-aid off and let the wound heal.

We have exciting young players with tons of talent and flair (Harry, Charlie, SPS, Fisher, Walsh etc etc even Stocker has some tricks) what we dont need now is a Ross Lyon type to take these kids into their shells even more. They're already too scared to make a mistake as it is. No.

We need a coach who wants to let these kids off the leash, blind freddy can see thats what we have. we don't have the Sydney Swans list. this is a Geelong style list with young flair and skill and talls who need the ball in quick and direct without fear or favour. I'm all for a new coach at this stage but it has to be one that takes the shackles off.

Blake Caracella. See Richmond before and after he joined them in 2017.

If that’s the case it might explain why Plowman took the risky option yesterday and kicked into the corridor to a Carlton player that had Saints players either side of him, which resulted in a turnover and goal. Btw Plowman played okay imo apart from that risky kick.

Then on the flip side, late in the first quarter we quickly switched play in the back half with a pass from Levi to Marchbank and instead of keeping the ball moving quickly Marchbank waited and waited and then eventually kicked it to a contest and it was marked by a StKilda player.

Point is some players are quick thinkers and moving the ball on quickly comes naturally (eg. Cripps, Daisy, Cuners) for others its not easy and they have to work at it.

We need to get better at this across the ground.

Why not select Sam fisher

He’s right under our nose!

Maybe Leigh Fisher, was BOG for Saints on the weekend

... incredibly well said?
... a bit obvious?
... a rather daft observation?
... all of the above?
Wouldn't waste your time, he specialises in belittling opinions. Tried the exact same response on me the other day. I said hey, old man, how can you stand to think that way? Did you really think about it before you made the rules? He said, son...

Whoever coaches us next year only one thing is for certain. There will be melts..

Agreed. When things aren't going according to plan, every decision is going to have a backlash of some sort.

I still think Bolton should coach in 2020 though.

People keep using the word talented to describe our list. The reality is, talent is a dangerous word to use in AFL, because it's more often used to describe untapped potential in players.

Bolton doesn't have enough senior players on the list to showcase a game plan to the supporter base at the moment.

If we can land one or two mature midfielders this trade period, and maybe a small forward (don't have to be stars, just role players), then we should have a better understanding of Bolton's coaching nous by the end of next year.

It's one year too early to let Bolton go.
