2nds Port Adelaide vs Sturt - Round 9 @ Alberton

One thing is for sure, the club must work with the sanfl and make magpies games at Alberton free entry for power members. Sure the club will lose out a little on magpie memberships, but they will more than make that back in a big way with catering, merch, food and meals at the club, beer sales etc.

Alberton is such a better place when it's full like that

Ollie really needs to work on his kick / handball ratio. He will be a far more effective / damaging player if he lowers his eyes and gets it on the boot. So many blind handpasses, or handballing it to a bloke 2m away under pressure.
Feels like this is creeping more into has game as he loses confidence in his kicking.

It was more the perfect storm of good weather, bye and returning Star.

This. They sold out of hot dogs by quarter time. The queue for the bbq snaked back and forth three times. I know someone who took all of the half time break to get served.

The catering alone would be worth thousands. The Magpies need to find a big goal scoring forward. People love them.

Woodcock was handy too. Genuine traditional rover. Picked up 23 disposals and kicked a goal.

Ollie laid 10 tackles as well. He came to play.

That's true, but there will always be players coming back from injury, plus it would add enough that just decide on the decent days that they'd go given it's free. It would more than cover the loss of a few home game memberships.

Nice to see Woodcock not afraid to use his non-dominant left foot too on a few occasions. It looked awkward but was effective enough. Looks like a player who adapts quickly to the challenges around him and can step up to whatever level he’s playing.

I always thought that the club should discriminate the membership prices:
- AU$50.00, club membership (equal for everybody);
- $y, Power game ticket (depending on # of games and location);
- $z, Magpies game ticket (depending on # of games and location);

Split the current $y in two, and say that $yb is actually $z. Nothing changes, but, suddenly, every single Power season-ticket holder would be allowed to go to games in Alberton.

The way one presents something may change everything.

Considering to 4 people in front of me entered through the gate without being scanned... I wouldnt take much notice of that number.

Easily the biggest crowd I have seen at Alberton in years - if this number is not the biggest, I doubt it is correct.
3 of us weren't scanned but bought tickets for Quinn stand so maybe we were counted.

Have a good competitive team, and people go.
Yes and no.
Obviously being top of the ladder would help, but the atmosphere is very much that of a ‘reserves’ game. There is little at stake for Port fans.
You had 5-7 thousand of the most hardcore Ports fans there yesterday and there was barely a cheer.

Free entry for Power members would help, but the inevitable change to AFL Reserves will be the big test.

It's the opposite isn't it? We must play all of our available (not on the injury list) AFL listed players.

Correct but in the finals we're restricted to having to play 5 contracted players and that possibly doesn't include the leadership player, which this year having drafted Sutcliffe wonn't help our cause.

A group of loud hardcore supporters would solve the issue of atmosphere. A good team would bring people. Then, it is just a matter of combining both.

We had both yesterday, it was very quiet.
Quite simply, it’s reserves footy, the passion won’t be there unless it’s a final.
