Unless he forces his way out, we'd be crazy to let Ladhams go now. Huge potential. Don't trade out talented talls for anything other than massive overs.

Yeah but imagine the army of giants playing at the Magpies!Theoretically, his tenure should be linked to Hayes'. They are in competition to be the #2 ruckman on the list over the next few years, which would eventually lead to them being the #1 in the much longer term. At some point, one of them will have to be cut loose, because you could have 18 All Australian ruckmen on your list, but you'll still only ever be able to play 1-2 of them each week.
If Hayes takes the standard 4 years to become an AFL ready ruck, Lycett will be pushing 30. Who knows where his body will be at by thenTheoretically, his tenure should be linked to Hayes'. Hayes is a genuine ruck forward, which is a very rare commodity. I think both Ladhams and Hayes could play together. They'd have to be prepared to wait out Lycett's contract though.
If our rucks next year are Lycett, Ladhams, Hayes then all three will likely play a decent chunk of footy next year with a standard run on injuries and form changes. And that's just not going to happen.
It was basically the same situation at West Coast with Cox, Naitanui and Lycett and Lycett waited out till the end of Cox’s career. Could happenAnd that's just not going to happen.
Or draft him in the PSD ...
And why would Hawks want a young ruckman to complement an ageing injury prone list ????

Lycett wishes he had the tools Ladhams has.Rookies have to nominate for the national draft first, and he’s no Luke Ball. He could end up anywhere. That’s why a club would trade.
Anyway it doesn’t matter. We’ve probably offered him a one year deal because it’s tied to what we’ve offered Ryder - sort of a “This is the pie, you get this slice, you get this slice” kind of situation. Ladhams isn’t Hayes, who will be a superstar ruck - he’s another Lycett.
I’m all for retaining him, but it has to be realistic. He needs to realise that the money will be there once Ryder is gone...which is probably why he’ll wait until we see what Paddy is doing.
