I love Simmo and definitely think he could go around again but the idea that it's up to him, well Alistair Clarkson wouldn't agree. Hard calls are a test for strong leaders.

Sure but our list is crying out for leadership and their list was not. Keeping TOO MANY old players for too long is what we did in the late 90' s and we had nothing to call on when they retired. But the hawks had plenty coming through that needed a chance. We are still at least another year away from the point where we dont need simmo daisy murph etc

Still reckon Hawks in box seat...Coniglio will have a lot of players around his age there, whereas at Carlton there is barely any. Best mate JOM. Coached by Clarko. Hawks' predicted demise was premature...they are even still in finals contention.

I would be salty if bloody Hawthorn get Coniglio for nothing and probably under-market value $$$ wise as well...they would have traded almost their entire midfield in Coniglio, Mitchell, JOM, Scully & Wingard.
I tend to agree with you on this one. I don't like the fact he and O'Meara are best mates. More likely to go to Hawthorn than us, despite what money is thrown at him.

Heard we are a lock in recruiting the best running defender in the game next year.

Sam Docherty

No guarantees he will be anything like the player he was after a double ACL. Same goes with Willo and Cuningham, they cant get on the field for more than 6 games a year. I find it strange that so much faith is being put in these three in particular at this point.

No matter the thread the reaction to unpopular posts is the same. With respect I think that's an exercise in hair splitting.

I'm not splitting hairs. It always comes down to erring on the side of support and watching out for negative agendas. Aside from that, people need to watch how they respond and leave anything dubious to us using the report button.

What better way to ruin a good friendship - Spend too much time together. :)

I just can't fathom why a senior player would be swayed to go to one club over another, for friendship.
Think about it. Would you take on a less paying job just to be sided by a mate? It's a weird notion.

If Coniglio does go the Hawks and who'd blame him, it would be for a better reason than to be snuggled up to O'Meara, 24/7

Haha come on, means nothing. Hawks won’t be doing us favours if it doesn’t advantage them in some way, and nor should they.

You would be surprised!

Their midfield is at the level it is now because of our generosity. Plenty of chats go on all year round, even where clubs think their lists are at. The hawks thought they were close to pinching another flag. Mitchell going down recked that...

They need a forward...

It’s like kicking a goal.

Some posters do it from the boundary with a no fuss approach.

Then you have the one that does it from 20 out directly in front and proceeds to do celebration cartwheels.

Good goal, but your acting like a bell end.

Entertaining none the less.
Liked mostly for the term bell end 😂

Rest of the post was good too and echoed my thoughts

Sure everyone here will get behind you in wishing him all the love we have.

I agree to an extent, Doc is a long shot to perform anywhere near where we will expect him to, Cuningham perseveres and has afl quality whilst i am hoping that Willo does not become an unfulfilled talent due to injury type. They each provide us with hope, wrapped up in football romance. Their narratives also reflects the fortunes of (the soon to be great) Carlton of the last few years, the emotional investment we make needs to be rewarded in the minutae as well as the big picture.

I cant see how they could afford both Patton and Cogs aswell as resigning Mitchell just yesterday.
I think you get Patton for 3rd-4th rounder coming back from 3rd reco he's gives them a salary relief to keep who they don't want to loose jmo...They have veterans retiring too giving them cap space...

Crystal balling

Have a look at my original reply, put that into context

Context is not in there re: your reply.

It was that SOS’s position is enhanced with the departure from the output shown under BB from our list management, which he may well be endorsing now.

There were plenty questioning the talent chosen & SOS’s role in those picks.

Watching Setterfield this year, he has been an 'almost player'.

He does something nice, then is a tiny bit slow to get rid of it. Does the hard work, then fluffs the kick a little. Etc. He does enough and enough well to suggest it's not a lack of talent, but he is lacking touch.

When you consider this is a post-ACL year, his previous injury history and his AFL newbiness AND consider that he's gotten better over the year.....it's not unreasonable to expect that it will start all clicking for him soon. Which is a very tantalising prospect.
I am a big fan. Reckon he has been pretty F.A.B. already.
