Tom Mitchell was last years best player but you wouldn’t line him up this weekend.
Last years form is totally irrelevant when picking Saturday’s team.
when he’s fit he can prove he deserves a spot in the team more than the next guy. He shouldn’t be gifted a spot because of last year.
Im not sure I get the Tom Mitchell but I can bet he plays round one next year if fit so your. Example suits what I said exactly. He plays when he declares himself fit enough because we know he is good enough. Can’t even believe it’s a discussion. What ever you do as a player don’t let the media suggest you are leaving. All you have done for the club is forgotten. And he was nearly sandy best player last week so it’s not like he is going through the motions

jack Steven had 21 touches in the VFL and played a couple of games early in the year. Why should he be gifted a spot in the 22 after a big team effort last week? Not many players deserved to be dropped after last weekends game, so how can you justify doing it? Has he shown he’s capable of being best 22 yet? I don’t think so.
21 touches in 3 quarters. First game of yr probably got us over the line cause he is a champ. You didn't answer my question

If they know Steven is leaving , it only makes sense you play a player who will be around next year.
Steven collected his 800k this year for to games so he wouldn't be hurting to much.
It actually makes no sense because the aim is to win games when you play them and he is better than nearly all our players. Should hill play at freo.

It’s as it should be.
No matter who you are you’ve gotta be better than the current incumbent to get back in.
Makes it tough to get back into a side that’s clicked and won.

Then why is long playing. Steven would only not be playing because he does think he is fit enough

Not just that , playing 3/4 of a game in 16 weeks is not really a good look when you have guys who have struggled to get into the firsts like Coffield , Hunter ,

Langlands , Hind and are 100% where Steven at best is what ? - give him 4 good quarters in the 2s - then see how he goes. - even Hannebery did that.

We don't need to play players when they are not fully fit like last year when we played Weller , Newnes with injuries.

I want what you're on!!!
Happy for Steven to play another VFL game but some of you posters are incredibly forgetful and condemning about one our clubs greatest players

Perhaps Jack didn’t make himself available for selection and I think Parkie would have been told last weeks selection was a one off.

He isn’t playing this week. As I have said about 10 times jack plays when he says he is fit enough. Baring injury that will be next game. And seriously comparing jack to newnes and Weller is pretty disrespectful

When did Hannebery play 4 good quarters in VFL. What game was that

I agree on jack. That’s what I’m saying but once he is fit enough he walks back in because he deserves to

Of course if he’s good enough.
He’s got vfl and training to prove that. And the current incumbent/s have afl and training to prove they’re the best.

It’s what we’ve needed for years some genuine competition for spots.

Unfortunately for your opinion the moment he declares himself fit he plays and so he should. He is nearly our best player. Well he is our best player

So Steven has to prove that he is AFL standard now. Those four X beers are working

I’ve vacillated for a while now on whether Steven should play but I think it will ultimately be a classic should’ve if we lose and shouldn’t have if we win. However I’d rather have him in the side and lose than not and lose without him. Especially when you consider all his Herculean efforts against this particular team over the years.

WTF is going on with Hannebrey? All he had to do is get through training today according to the medical report? He is starting to look like an absolute embarrassment for the Lethlean, Gallagher and the club. I am sick of the club being a dumping ground for other clubs trash, when will it end?

I can understand not rushing Steven and rewarding the winning team from last week, but what has Parker done wrong? He must have missed training or something silly, because I thought he was one of our better forwards last week?

Ok then.

Yeah I deleted that comment after I saw May was out; didn't realise at the time.

So up front they are playing Tim Smith, who is a mature age recruit; is a decent size but has played 12 games of AFL footy in three years for ten goals; and Harrison Petty, who has played 7 games for 4 goals (of which three were in a single game, I assume he's mainly used in defence).

Hogan trade not looking so great right now.

Despite his average year at Freo, I reckon Melbourne losing Hogan has been a much under valued reason behind their demise this year. I couldn't imagine Geelong or Hawthorn letting a guy like him go in his prime when they were supposed to be in their premiership window.

He used to love beating up on us too so I'm double glad we won't have to contend with him or McDonald this week.

Because he is a better player than most of the 22 who played last week. If he is fit, he plays.
It doesn't matter how hard someone tried last week, Jack Steven is better than them and if they can't understand that, then they won't last long.
