Not sure Sam Edmund has any respect from Bluebaggers atm, but he reckons we've had Sauce Jacobs through the club for a medical in a view to potentially add him to the list to finish his career as backup for Kreuz.

Double reunion with Eddie and Sauce. Would be extremely surprised if Gibbs' manager didn't ask the question, too. Do I want all three? No way. But it'd almost be worth bringing back all three for a third rounder just to see how the AFC fans react.

0 - SnowTown in 4.6s.

Mate Brisbane have a significant home ground advantage that we don't, we play all of our home games on pretty much neutral venues.

Also the Lions had an extraordinarily charmed run with injuries this year, and I think the Richmond final proved that they are still a fair way off from being a legit flag contender.

They will get a much harder draw next year and fall back down into the pack, so to speak

Not sure about Lions falling back. They actually had more scoring shots than the Tigers over the weekend and didn’t play particularly well and of course didn’t convert in front of goal very well. I would say they remain top 6 next year as many of their younger players should naturally get better and that should make up for a harder draw and more injuries. But the far fewer injuries seemed to be more because they have a smart medical team in place now - we will know more if they repeat in 2020. I can in fact see the other top teams falling away more than the Lions.

Anybody who actually believes Liddle and LoGuidice would be actively questioning SOS about missing targets from 3 years ago and when we have won 3 games during a transitional period, please send me a PM.

I’d like to offer you a great deal on a beachfront home in Canberra.
From what I know of the workings of that club and the relationship b/w MLG and SOS, I have my doubts to. Joined at the hip

Not elite at all.
Would we be the only team that currently doesn't have a small/medium forward capable of kicking a goal? Could be close.

It's clearly an area we've neglected and somehow 'hoped' that LeBois may have been the one. (Three years on the list suggests we had faith in him.)
Anyway, that's now history but the problem is that you can't just pick and choose the fruit when it suits you, so maybe somewhere along the line, we made a few List Management mistakes and it may cost us a little more, to fix them up.
Was just checking where he sits in terms of Sydney's list, surprisingly he comes in at no 4 out of 5 of Sydney's "elite" ranked players. Take Champion data for what you will, but he actually sits in much higher company than what I thought.

I'd put most of those 'losses' in recruitment down to us not wanting to pay the price (not in case of Kelly, DS or Cogs though), which in most cases I agree with. It's irresponsible 'just get him whatever the cost' type recruiting that will make Hawks and Bombers mid-table for a while to come. SOS' MO about building a flag list is clear.

The questions might come around where that line is and how close the line is that we draw on deals (say, $50K) for principle sake where we could easily make up elsewhere e.g. I'd hate to miss out on Martin for a small monetary amount for principle sake when he's already saying "I'd come to you for $200K less, just bridge the gap a little" - seeing him go to Dogs.

That said, I trust the direction we're going and at least we'll know that these guys coming to us truly believe the path we're on (or are A-graders who were enticed over other high-grade offers).
Could not agree more.

Exactly. A Brisbane mate of mine would bag me out last year when we had a hideous run with injury. They haven't had many injuries for over 2 years. Will be interesting how they go next year if a few soldiers go down. Still a pretty quality list though, not so different to our capabilities imo... give or take 1 or 2 more star players..

I think we should be aiming for finals next year... no excuses now. Our list isn't that far away from Brisbane's, minus a gun small forward or 2.
One of the differences between us and Brisbane over the past 2 years is their dream run with injuries. It's easier to build cohesion when you have the same players lining up next to each other week in week out for an extended period of time. They have also been rebuilding for a couple of years longer than we have been.
While it would be great to play finals next year I don't think that It's a reasonable expectation that we do so just yet.
If we can drag ourselves out of that rung of bottom 6 clubs on the ladder next year I'd be happy enough, it would set us up nicely for 2021.That is when I'd be starting to expect to be playing finals.

Ground pressure is good but we need more than that.
We want a player that if not kicking goals himself, can manufacture them via a team-mate through smarts and quality disposal.
We've stopped kidding ourselves now that we have those players - We simply don't as which is why we're chasing him and the like.

I still shake my head that Bolton thought we'd attain forward pressure and goal-kicking via Gibbons, Polson and ECurnow. What was that about?

I feel like Bolton thought he had more time than he actually did..

Curnow and Gibbons up forward was more about having some bodies/leadership/experience on the field while the young guys fought it out in the deep end.

Which is why I'm not 100% sold on Teagues biggest change being putting our best and most experienced back around the ball. The kids are going to have to learn sooner or later.

There’s asking questions, and then there’s asking questions.

Absolutely Liddle would be derelict in his duties if he wasn’t seeking to understand if there’s a pattern in prior misses in trade/FA targets (other than ladder position) which should be addressed to drive better future outcomes.

That can be done constructively and positively, and in listening to Liddle recently, I think this is probably the the approach taken. I'm not sure taking an inquisition style approach, particularly at this time of year, is going to yield positive results.

I would of thought that winning 4 games in 33 would been the reason why we have missed out on players the past couple of years?
Massive reason, if we had of had this type of year last year you would have to assume a different outcome in the Shiel decision from an opposition players perspective it would have been very difficult in gauging how far off from rising we actually were...

Pick up Menzel as well and we could form our own barbers shop quartet to entertain us at half time.
I forgot about Menzel, kinda sad how far the bloke fell after going to Adelaide, really thought he would've went further, a good call by SOS to get rid of him while he had currency.
