I didn't read the previous, apologies, but point still stands that I think Jones, Weitering, Marchbank and Plow will all fit comfortably best 22. Jones takes on the number one forward due to his athleticism and strength, Weitering 2nd so he can drift and command the backline, Marchbank and Plow on the third and the float depending on the matchup. All have the ability to chop and change bar Jones and will be such a weapon for a coach who is happy to move the magnets around when something isn't working.
Who takes Rioli, Ryan, petrucelle, Cripps and Cameron.

Yeah fair enough 4 talks isn’t going to be the perfect mix against all opposition sides but I guess that’s why we have coaches to make that call and mix things up to get the best 22 each week. Marchbank & Weitering are both great marks and I could see either one playing further up the ground when asked. I’m loving the mix of big blokes we have atm we just need time for these blokes to bulk up, get more preseasons under their belts and play more together as a unit. We’ll never be a force til we get a settled back 6-7
I think we have all been fooled with Marchbank. I truly haven’t seen enough in his 3-4 years at Carlton. Not enough to say WOW on many occasions that say he’s going to be that defender of the future. I see it with weits and jones. I don’t with Marchy. I’d hate to see it or be right. But he will be the one to miss out.

They’re about to go out in straight sets because the forward lines that they play against are small.
They haven’t beaten a top 8 side outside GMHBA stadium since round 10.
They’ve only won 4 times this year v a top 8 side. They’ve beaten none in the top 8 ANYWHERE since round 12

I like your enthusiasm, however, they just lost a final by 10 points, before that, a goal with a few seconds to go beat them, they lost to gws by less than a kick.

Their only loss to a top 8 side of a significant margin was to bulldogs.

I’m hearing what you’re saying, but their form line seems pretty competitive and they finished on top of the ladder.

And to be honest, I wouldn’t write them off this week.

ZERO chance at the G. NONE.

don't go looking for wow - go looking for whoah...........

I think long term Plow will be phased out for a Nick Smith/Blake Hardwick/Neville Jetta nuggety type defender who can properly lock down a small.

I love Plow for what he is but he is just too awkward a size which can become a liability. The closest comparison I can think of is Dylan Grimes but Plow doesn’t have the same ability on the last line and isn’t overly quick.

IMO in an ideal world we’d play 2 KPD (Jones, Weitering), 1 3rd tall (Marchy), 1 lockdown small (Plow atm), 3 running hbfs (Doc, Simpson, Newman, Willo, SPS, Martin etc).

From our win against the Crows late in the year.

Docherty - Thomas
Charlie - Casboult
Martin - Deluca
Cunningham - Lang
Kruezer - Phillips
Marchbank - Newman
Papley - Gibbons
Fisher - Kennedy

8 pretty good footballers out of that team if we get Martin & Papley

Going to be very tight for spots.

And we may get another B+ Mid yet.

Plus Stocker who I really rate
Hard on Newman 🤭

Jones, Weitering and Plow can take defensive posts. Marchback to push up onto the wing.

Don't need Tomlinson, need Marchbank to go through the same program brackets did so that he is leaner and has a bit of burst.
Do you really believe his disposal is good enough - and it will be worse with the gut running required of wingers these day— LOB for the amount of high speed running he does his disposal has been good for a second year and Setterfield has shown he can clock the Kms off one pre season and is great by foot — I seriously doubt they will shrink marchbank hoping he becomes a winger

So apparently on the drafts and trading board pick 8 and Weitering for Papley is a 'fair deal

Watch his game vs Collingwood from this year if you get the chance. His intercept marking was enormous. I also understand your argument about playing on the Eagles smalls, but who plays on Oscar Allen?

Jones - Kennedy
Weitering - Darling
Marchy - Allen
Plowman - Cripps
Newman/SPS - Rioli
Docherty - Ryan

Those match ups are solid.

That's what I've been getting at for a while, nothing against Plowman if we had a luxury list but we don't.

Surely if SOS can get in Martin, Papley, Butler or Gray, Eddie, Cameron or Sauce, & another Smokey mid from the clouds the clubs membership will be at a record high before preseason 🤞

Sorry to single out your post, but can anyone give me a realistic scenario as to how we can recruit the majority of these players, let all of them, with our existing draft picks without giving up one of our emerging young guns such as Fish or Paddy Dow ?

Eddie Betts. Cameron/Jacobs will all cost next to nothing.

The only ones who will cost anything are Martin and Papley. Have plenty to get those done without giving up our young talent.

You just named 2 teams we beat without 1-2 of the 4. Maybe that’s the reason.

Wait, you think it’s our backline to blame for losing games?

Despite the injuries to our backline, I’d suggest the lack of depth in the midfield, and even more so, the lack of connection to the forwardline, and the forwardline itself, that was much more to blame.

So surely Cameron wins out then? At least if we are looking long term?

My preference is Cameron, who I believe would be a perfect list fit considering we're looking to develop TDK as a ruck.

Jacobs a distant second but I would still take him if Phillips doesn't take the one year we've offered.

Carlton will not be a successful side with Plowman, Marchbank, Weitering and jones all playing in the same side. Which is why Newman plays a role.

If we play 4 talls and two smalls we will remain Irrelevant for a very long time.

Hawthorn not too long ago went back to back to back with 4-5 defenders all listed at 189cm or taller.

System almost always prevails over personnel. Height only paints a very small part of the overall picture and it is completely flawed to draw conclusions on the back of that one statistic alone.

This years first and change for Papley.
Next years first for Martin and change.
Butler for a third.
I don’t really care about the rest or think they’re actually worth anything more than a token pick.

This plan certainly would clear us out of the next two drafts. Not sure where the midfield help is coming from unless we can buy it in Free Agency.

Papley - pick 8

Martin - next years second and pick 39

Butler - pick 44

Cameron - next years 3rd

Eddie - insert token 4th rounder here
