What is this I am heading that Connor Blakey has been a bad, bad boy at Freo, and is likely to be shipped off (possibly for unders) ?

Another tough inside mid type, I would be very interested in, but geez, it sounds like he may have pissed off a lot of the boys at Freo. Is he worth the baggage ???

Connor Blakely was out of contract at end of this year unless he resigned.

Can play half back also, but we have plenty of those on list.

Oh I can definitely see why Essendon would entertain it. On 650-700k a year. Barely played for 2 years. Just had another round of surgery so his 2020 preseason is stuffed already. They'd get him fit again by the end of next year for him to leave as a RFA.

May as well cash in now and let the next club deal with his rehab, his 2020 wage, and possibly get more in return than the free agency compo they'd receive.

No big deal, really just a depth option.
How do you know? He's still relatively young for a ruckman and might be just about ready to hit his straps. My perception was that he was always getting injuries just when he was about ready to step up. His NEAFL stats are pretty impressive, for what that's worth.

If I remember correctly, Darcy Cameron also played as KP forward in his younger years, so he might be able to play the resting forward role. Interesting to see how this unfolds.

Players are sat down together and given a mandatory 1-2 hour seminar/presentation each year regarding drug testing, ASADA, dangers, what to look out for, what their responsibilities are, what the potential charges can be.

Rioli will have sat through at least one of these, likely 2, during his time at WCE.

Sorry zeggster but that’s not “reading the riot act” as your post stated

“Reading the riot act” stems from the Riot Act of 1714 in the UK, and without all the preamble, essentially means in common language “to reprimand severely” usually accompanied by a stern warning (from an era when proclamations were read in public before they were enforced)

I’d suggest reading the riot act over another clubs indiscretion would be counter productive....but it’s a great “real” case study to use next year when we do our standard education session. ;)

Well has kicked 34.16 from his 30 NEAFL games over the past two seasons.

WAFL he kicked 50 goals from 40 games..

So does seem to go at over 1 goal a game on average.

The only knock I have on SPS is that quite a few of his short passes are touched or marked by the opposition.
He needs to actually become hungrier and have shots on goal more often and actually kick the ball longer imo because like you said, his "dinky" little kicks get touched or they do not do enough damage to the opposition. He has talent but needs to become harder at finishing things off himself and not give the ball away for someone else to do it..........

I think he's just beginning to develop confidence in what he can do. He'll chop them up regularly in coming years.

Don’t think so, but sometime next year I’m sure Mr Vanilla will sneak himself in Royce Hart style
difference being royce thought he was the best - named himself chf in his best of team in his auto biography...………..hope he's travelling better these days than he was previously...……….

So Dododo....we thank you for Walsh...and Stocker....and Martin....and potentially Papley, through your shrewd Shiel trade.

God bless you, sir :)

Arguably * honing in on Shiel also helped us get Setterfield...

Shiel - the failed private jet flight that just keeps on giving...

afl.com reporting that Norf are also in the hunt for Papley....I thought that was old news.

There's nothing in the article that comes up with anything of any substance, just saying that him and Shaw had a good relationship at the Swans.

I'm not concerned - jumping into the chase this late is much more likely to be an effort to force us to up our offer a bit than a genuine chance of pilfering him.
