Sam Edmund on SEN.

Papley really wants to get back to Melbourne. There's a serious health issue in the family.

Wants to come to Melbourne. Carlton being optimistic but Papley doesn't care who he plays for.
That's why he nominated us. Cos he don't care. Ffs.

Focus Blue Roan !
I might need to up my life insurance policy at this rate. Stupid stupid scatterbrained horsie.
Thankyou for your help all. I am indebted to you. Geez!
I thought you guys were cross because I wanted to hug TCP!! (Seriously!! )
What an eejit. I thought I'd broken a rule about what you can say to ITK's or something.
Now officially a nervous neddie. :D

BS. Papley told St Kilda thanks but no thanks. An ITK on their board said as much. He wants to come to the Blues.

Except he’s clearly made it plain that he’s nominated Carlton.

AFL media clearly can’t stand the fact that we are now a destination club.
Agreed, so he has rejected Norfs offer, nominated us publicly and announced to his club to trade him to us, and we seem to be deep in discussions with Sydney to do the trade......but he doesn’t really care which club he goes to in Victoria.........bahahaha!!!!
There should be a clubs appointed media bull.... enforcer who represents all clubs, and when something like this crap is said publicly, the club it has affected sends him to the perpetrator and gives them a good smacked bottom.

Spot on. And every club “is expected to play hardball” with us while Essendon must demand 2 first rounders for an overrated injury prone Daniher.

He’s put heat on Sydney to deal, or they’ll look like campaigners, it does bring the * into the conversation though.

Casboult not on today’s FA list. So presume that means he’s contracted. Can’t go Fa.

Maybe I missed it. I felt there was a view he was still a FA and had the option to trigger himself.

Means nothing. It just means he hasn't filed the requisite paperwork.

Casboult has a contract until October 31 to trigger an option. He's still under this years contract as of right now. No one knows if the option has been triggered. I predict it hasn't.

If he wants to move he needs to lodge nomination paperwork and then lodge and accept RFA offer paperwork from another club by October 10. He could do this under very short notice if required.

If Casboult doesn't file paperwork by October 10 his only options would be to trigger the option, negotiate a new contract, or enter the draft.

If October 11 comes along and we've heard nothing, 99% he's a Blue next year.

Gotta ask why a player manager is shopping that theory around.

Is he trying to show that the Suns got a good deal and Ellis had options or is he being petulant because he stuffed up and would rather play the victim than explain his part in the deal with us falling through?

My bet would be that Ellis was happy with the initial deal but then Pask went around him once Cogs fell through and tried to get more money. SOS said GAGF and now Pask has to try and cover his arse and act like we were at fault so he doesn't cop the whack for stuffing it up for Ellis. That sort of thing would be pretty bad for a manager's reputation in a fairly small industry.

Having another stab at royalblue's conundrum.
(This time in correct thread -gulp.)
Right
7 years bad luck is us offering a 7 year contract. if we miss out it's 7 years bad luck cos that's how long he'll stay at his current club.
Who is it?
The one with the initials of 3 brothers. Old aussie singing trio.

Pieced together from a few sources. All 2nd hand.

That would be the exact kind of thing prohibited by the clause that everyone is talking about with Papley (a one sided option to extend).

Going by that provision in the CBA, only automatic triggers seem to be able to be included. There wouldn't be much point to a trigger if both sides had to agree to invoke it - it would have no point.

Seems he is contracted after all.

Regarding triggers only - there's been some discussion that a games trigger differs than an "automatic" trigger.

Ie. Papley triggers the option by playing 30 games, Sydney can then also trigger the option.

No one really knows. All we do know is despite there possibly being a 4 year contract, Papley wants out.

I suspect about the same.

Blues deal all but set. Gets a solid GCS offer. Ellis wants to stay in Melbourne but tries to pump up the Blues offer and it backfires.

Bye bye Ellis, enjoy the beach, bikies and obscurity.

Papley talks progressing well. Betts trade is almost too good to be true given how little money the club will have to pay him
Thanks for the info TCP! Any idea at what stage of trade period Eddie will get done? Seeing as Martin and Papley have a bit to play out is it better to lock the Eddie trade away early or get the others done first?

I would happily give Phillips 2 years. I think he is the perfect backup ruckman.

No point having a superstar ruckman as your #2, getting paid $800K to play VFL or worse....being forced to play him out of position in the fwd line......

You want a guy who will play for $300-400K. Who is willing to battle away in the VFL for most of the year and step up to AFL for 5-10 matches a year when needed. And not get smashed when that happens.

I think he got badly beaten in rounds 1-2 this year (opposing ruckman was BOG or close), but was excellent in the win against Adelaide. He is a 4/10 ruck. Which is the perfect balance of 'not too good, but not terrible either' you want in your backup.

If 'A Phillips' is not our list, we need to replace him with 'a Phillips'....JMO
