I don't disagree with a shorter trade period, either way similar deals will get done
I actually think it is a good way to posture during a negotiation
The stronger the trader, the longer the timeframe, the better for results

What I like about the idea of a shorter trade period, is that it allows for more mistakes but also for more brilliant trades....therefore more dynamic.

It's not easy work either way but five days would really force one to peddle hard from the get-go and maybe I'm a little CFC-centred in saying this right now, but I feel it would suit us. :)

Still catching up on the thread, but somewhat amazed at all the people who think it doesn't matter if the mystery player is named now. Go listen to Cain Liddle's interview from a month or two back where he talked about wanting to create an environment where the best people can approach the club about maybe coming across and know it's going to be handled in confidence. The comments were made with regard to the senior coach position, but I reckon it applies equally on & off the field.

Ah ok that makes sense. Thats a huge risk however, especially if Melbourne take Green. As after Rowell and Anderson I don't think there is a standout pick 3.

Draft will have Rowell and Anderson in spots 1&2. Need to ensure Melbourne don't bid on Green at 3.

If that plays out, they take the 4th best in the draft and then wait for Sydney/Essendon to bid on Green. Then they pay for it with later draft picks.
Luckily for them Greene is the last type of player Melbourne need.

Adding Papley and Martin into our side makes our side bloody dangerous!! There both the exact players that win teams premierships. Fast and crafty players!

Then throw in Eddie betts!

Then throw in a all Australian half back in doc!

Another year into our young kids, but most of all add the confidence our kids will get in more experience around them.

Teague giving the team more freedom then Bolton (already seen glimpses of this)!

I honestly think we will be the Brisbane of next year and play finals!

**** yes campaigner **** YESS!!

What is it we all strive for????
#17
When are people going to realise that as we improve, we may loose some loved young players along the way?
It’s pissing me off that whenever a young player is brought up as potential trade, the whole board goes into meltdown.
It’s gonna happen sooner or later. We better get used to it.
If it improves our list and chances of #17, i’m All for it.
I support the CLUB, not the individual

Oh, apart from Levi, do love the big lug

I wouldn't be trying to jump the queue for any player in this draft, as it is extremely even

Edited: in fact in all drafts
Don't agree, Arr0w, clubs have their targets and have to make sure another club doesn't trump them. Back in the days when I followed the draft more closely, before I became more jaded about the process, I could roughly predict where certain players were going to go and sometime 'queue jumping' was exactly what you needed to do.

Saw it mentioned a few days ago.

Campo been in charge of Adelaide's midfield for a long time...Adelaide posters seem to want him gone. Like our version of John Barker.

However again, Teague would know very well Campo's capabilities having worked with him, and if he rates Campo then i guess i'm on board.

Surely they'd be better served doing it with Melbourne....
From what I understand of Green (inside mid), it’s exactly the profile Melbourne wouldn’t be drafting. I think they’ve taken a calculated risk that’s probably correct with that one.

Surely though 12 and 18 is enough alone. The first Rd next year seems unnecessary unless there are other future picks going to GWS.
