More time goes on, the more I'm thinking we won't see Papley, Eddie and Jack in Navy Blue (and maybe 1-2 others in the Cutler/Butler/Pittonet range) until Wednesday for various reasons.

My time and sanity - as well as most of yours - would probably be better off used on more productive things.
And the main thing is...I can’t remember what day we got Setterfield and McGovern last year. No clue. I just know going in 2020 I’m delighted we have them.

Some of these confirmed trades are doing my head in. So involved. So many pieces to the jigsaw.

I pine for simpler time when milk and bread were cheap. Cigarettes and grog as well. Petrol was sold in gallons. The Footy Record was half the size and printed in black and white. It was safe to catch a train after sundown. Kids played in the street. Neighbours talked to each other. I’m just not built for these times. Is that my phone ringing?

12 cent Choc Wedges and Bruce Doull at half back.

As an opposition supporter, this would be the dream. Daniher retires with a year to go. Moves to Sydney. Trains with the club to get his body right. Enters the draft next year.
And a benifactor gives him free rent and a brown paper bag every week< till next year, how good would that be!
Delicious i would say!

So what do you do when stuff actually happens?

Betts will happen, Papley will happen and Martin will happen. This has been the consistent line all along from all of the people ITK. Obviously during a trading period, everyone's situation is a bit fluid...if there are swapping of picks involved for example, then they might want to wait until they know exactly what their hand is before they commit. Similarly, if they are paying a portion of the salary, they may want to know exactly what players they have coming in and going out, to make sure that the books stack up. The overall deals are largely agreed upon, it's just the finer details that can vary slightly. We have until the end of Wednesday, if the situation is still like this at 4:45pm on that day, then we can start to panic! Up until then, go off the fact that SOS rarely fails to get the deal that he wants in the end...
Im sure there's many trades that we don't hear about that dont get done when all is said and done .
Equally sure a better system could be put in place to facilitate this part of our game but its not what the AFL are about or clearly want .

Clubs have and clearly talk during the year to have this little player movement which happens most years is not acceptable and should not be accepted by the football world.

Having this trading system in place that is condensed into a small time frame of a few days when your taking into consideration there's only an 8 week off season over the course of 12 months where clubs only decide the details and remuneration in trades is only going to encourage delays and in some cases deals falling over .

The AFL is not an organisation that encourages transparency what's right or fair it is about maximising exposure even through controversy in fact imo that's their favoured form of exposure .
Their MO is the bottom line it really is a disgusting organisation that runs our game .
Thanks rant over .

Chapman just on trade radio, said they were meeting tonight with Reid to move forward and get an update on lists.

Almost got the impression that Adelaide hasn’t really wanted to 100% sort something until the review fell and that was sorted, which is understandable considering the position the club was in over the last few months

Yet we are not alone

Perhaps our main focus is on Papley, Martin and other players, with Betts being the last consideration
Wouldn't be surprised if we'd done our bit in the Betts trade and are just waiting on Adelaide. It's not like that place has a stable 'house' atm.

I can’t see why Swans won’t accept 9 for Papley.. it’s overs.

Unfortunately it's tied to the Daniher trade, which brings Dodoro into the mix. Then on the Betts front we have to deal with Reid.

Pretty unfortunate that two of our three trades are reliant on dealings with two guys who are arguably the biggest obstructionists and grandstanders in the industry.

The "Welcome Back Eddie" video better be Oscar worthy if they're waiting this long.

I am of the opinion that all our trades are done and the Blues, Swans, Crows and GCS are laughing their heads off at us whilst they wait to make the trades officially known next week.

I can’t see why Swans won’t accept 9 for Papley.. it’s overs. It’s just the way trade period works, things take a long time with us. Daniher would be holding things up as well but I believe we have had our first serious discussions with the Swans today and possibly an agreement has come to fruition.

They probably would accept it, sounds like we're pushing to get something else back though.

Here's an idea.

We give 9 and 43 to Sydney for Papley and 25, then send 25 and 48 to GC for Martin. Essentially turning 9, 43 and 48 into the two players.

Might drop my resume at the club.
