I want the player who nominated Carlton over the player who came grovelling. One has the potential as a 10 year Blue (Martin) and the other feels like he’d just chase the big dollars elsewhere in a few years.

Wines is a key leader at Port who is in-contract. If he publicly nominates a trade, he's in a challenging position if the trade doesnt happen = private nomination.

“Grovelling” probably not the right word. I meant more than he got his agent to approach Carlton which seems to have been done privately, rather than officially nominating the club. But year, point taken about why it was a private nomination. Probably not the only footballer to do it this way over the years.
