I see Stocker being a better version of Wines, we also have Dow who will be a burst bull type

Wines would be a great, but I would prefer players to be in/out mids

SPS with more speed
I agree with you, and you're much closer to the draft and youth than me. Do you think Stocker or Dow will be at the level Wines will contribute by the end of next year? I would think they would still be a few years off his level of physicality and ability in the contest.

It would be nice, but think the AFL rules for that to be even possible Carlton need to somehow get a future 4th back.

The rule is;
If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds.

The AFL can allow give you permission & Carlton could argue that they have taken so many kids and 1st rounders over the last 3-4 years. But your relying on the AFL.

So from the Papley, Martin, Philips or Pittonet deal Carlton would need a future fourth our way without touching any other picks from next year.

If suddenly one of these trades pop up and Carlton have a future 4th, then get excited
Im pretty sure we dont have to abide by that rule because we have had more than 2 first round picks in 4 years... LOB Dow amd walsh

You don't always have to replace like for like and Wines would be that mature and senior body that would replace ECurnow in the team.

If Wines is so desperate to get out, why wouldn't Essendon be after him? They should have the currency to get that deal done, should they get the deal done.
Wines supported Carlton as a kid, pretty sure 😋

Ollie Wines was a pick #7 in his draft.

Apologies if this has already been answered 398 times.

All these clues hinting number 7 has had a few of acting us like Jim Carrey the past week or so

That looks like it would be an incredible movie. I am sad that I will never get a chance to watch it. :(

Eddie on SEN:
Kade texted me and it's great to know I'm not the oldest on the list.
Jeffy Garlett texted and asked me to put a good word in with the coach.
:D :carlton: he speaks so well doesn't he! :blueheart:
I love Eddie he is just so genuine.
Excited to see what he can bring next season and beyond.

As I said the AFL has discretion, but we would be relying on the AFL to help us out & for the AFL that would depend on which way the wind is blowing

Once your future 1st is out you need your (or others) remaining 2nd to 5th rounders in or vice versa if you’ve already traded your lower pick/s.

AFL can approve it. They did so for Geelong the very first season it was enacted.

Yeah, but if we have a trade on we’ll ask permission, and the AFL won’t stop it because of a 4th rounder

Pretty sure it was last year. We needed to get a 2nd back in as we needed to full suite of later picks. It’s ridiculous that it’s 2nd to 5th rounder as well.

But yes, there can be special dispensation from the AFL....usually reserved for HFC & GFC teams with “maturity”.

I think both will improve and I can certainly see Stocker being a better version of Wines, despite being slightly different

Setters has massive upside, his hands are elite and then there are so many others that will improve the group as a whole

Wait till Walsh adds some size

Thanks EB.

Will be an interesting couple of days.

Given Wines Manager denies making the call was the contact made outside of “normal channels”?

I’m pretty confident the club will be livid it got out considering the CEOs comments about being a club you can have confidential convos with.

Not a good look even if it didn’t come from the club, which is disappointing as I highly doubt it did.

Setters to move inside or remain on the wing in 2020? Intriguing what happens with his position.
Walsh on the other wing? Though he was attending more centre clearances as the year wore on.

Then there’s Kennedy.

Port was number one in the comp for contested possession and number 3 for clearances. Didn't help them win games, whilst the worst 2 teams in these categories have shared the last 3 flags.

Yep, but those flag teams are the best or very near it in second phase contested possession which tells you they spread much better.
