Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
That better not be true. Why would we actively bring in a player with a known drug problem?
FFS.Papley worth way more than a 18 yo kid at pick 9

Let alone criticism of no plan B, which arguably Eddie is at least for a year, and Martin walks to us in the PSD.It it was SOS at fault here..
Aren't you reading the melts ..

Reports have said GC will redraft Martin so not show how he'll slip to us.
I don't think there is a PSD anymore. Just an AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period. Would Martin fall into that category?

Makes Eddie trade even better, a good place holder of sorts for a year before getting a papley or someone else next year
This trade period was a joke, we did not fill any of our positional needs, we had good players wanting to come to us and we couldn’t get it done! Can’t see Papley nominating us in 12 months time, personally a player of his calibre for pick 9 was worth it, overs maybe but considering he still has 4 years remaining on his contract, it was what we had to pay and it should hve been done.
OK naive one, SOS himself said Papley deal was unlikely to be done without the Daniher trade going through. Knowing this, he's had WEEKS to come up with other targets, instead of Death riding Dodoro to the last minute. GC said they would have traded Martin & 15 for Pick 9. Which is the equivalent of a mid 3rd rounder in points downgrade. With maybe err 2 minutes to go, you'd think he'd cut the loss of a player with 3 years to go on the contract, and do the martin deal at least. Or have a plan C. But no. we bank everything on a 50/50 deal with a player with 3 years of contract left.
The biggest issue is we didn't have a plan b.
So trade for someone we didn't want? To please the nuffies? Sounds a smart ideaYou just missed his point completely. If Papley wasn't doable we should have had other plans in place. Instead we have nothing.
Ludicrous. I personally don't rate Martin that high. But to not target or have a back up plan when the intention was for the club to trade this year's first pick is really disappointing. Are there people seriously suggesting we trade up to Melbourne's pick and take Martin there? Lord almighty.
small forward for one yearYes we did, we got a small forward, a back up ruckman and will get a quality midfielder in the PSD.
9 + future 1st was offered. swans claim early discussions also rejected 5 + 9I thought Adrian Dodoro said that pick 5 wasn't tabled for Daniher in his press conference on Fox.
In all seriousness is Jack Martin really going to tear the house down and drive us to another flag?
I don't blame SOS for not getting this deal done.
He has proven absolutely NOTHING. He may have shown potential but he has not proven enough to warrant a first rounder.
Papley, Wines, Coniglio and Shiel (Last year) has been a systematic failure with our recruiting department
Dodoro said that Sydney only ever offered 9 and a future first; I believe it, given JD comes out of contract end of 2020.Sydney List guy said * Dodo made it clear that Picks 5 and 9 would not get Daniher.
So Daniher goes to Swans next year as a FA and * get a start of second round compensation pick.
Having a plan C. Papley was always a high risk of failure. Obviously Plan B, another high risk, is picking Martin up via PSD.Ok so to summarise from the press conferences with SOS, Dodo and Cameron;
Sydney offered 9 (our pick) and a future first for Daniher which confirms most of the mail around that Sydney wouldn't let Papley go unless Daniher came in. Doesn't seem like we could do much more. Essendon* taking a risk holding a player that doesn't want to be there a year out from Free Agency, good luck to them.
Cameron confirmed himself they wanted 9 + a future second for Martin and 15 for an out of contract bloke who hasn't shown a great deal, and is a possibility to land in the PSD for free to someone.
The picks GC have this year and next (thanks AFL concessions...) meant they weren't interested in our offer of future 2nd and 3rd which would normally have been pretty fair price to pay.
I think the most disappointing thing is that we didn't make a late play for Wines once the other two targets were scuppered but can live without it.
So for the melters losing their minds in here wanting SOS sacked, what was the next course of action?
The fact that everyone was declaring SOS a genius days out looks very bad on the club in general, no plan B or C....
