SOS should've worn a tin foil hat to Marvel today, would've prevented the AFL stepping in on our deals.gee it's a letdown isn't it?

It was very widely reported so that’s all I can really go on. Agresta said we were interested and SOS said we had little interest. I remember them saying they met with him then didn’t contact him again for over two weeks. I could be wrong but I just don’t think we were that keen because of our other targetsSorry HavUEvaSeenTheRain, I think you may be making that up....it was never stated anywhere he was up for grabs for anyone and we wouldn't commit.
Like any player who is searching for a new home, he was more than likely exploring his options, and ultimately chose St Kilda. That doesn't mean he was up for grabs for anyone.
As much as I also find it hard to understand, not every player wants to come to Carlton....
I can’t see there would be any way that GC would select him. Melbourne would be the worry.Depending on what we can offer him for next year, if we have the room, 90/10 I reckon. (900k+) no way GC or Melb match that without an agreement to sign an extension
Only way would be if Martin cracks the shits with us and agrees to a deal with GC or Melb but I doubt it and reckon we will get him

The AFL don't want restraint of trade murmurings to get going. This whole draft set up is a house of cards. That's why uncontracted players are not forced to stay and why other clubs let them slide to the club they originally nominated.
I'm 75/25 that Martin will get to us if he goes into the PSD.
Hell, Gold Coast may even delist him now that they made their silly point.
Harley Bennell in the rookie draft.
from the teague train to the sos trainwreck, hard to believe we’ve stuffed this up so badly.

Did you just join up to come and have a melt down? You shouldn't have bothered we have enough people qualified to do the job who have been around for years.Looking forward to the

I said Butler would’ve played 22 games this year and I think this because we played Gibbons, Lang, De Luca and even Kennedy in this role. Is Butler a better player than Gibbons, no, is he a better small forward, yes.
Butler kicked 30 goals and was a premiership player in 2017 and is behind Cartagena and Rioli in the pecking order. He’d walk into our 22 because we have nothad a genuine small forward in years.
MM says hello.Genius?
It's no guarantee that Martin will be at Carlton.
We failed for the second consecutive year to land an A or B grade player.
We take pick 9 into a very average draft - the whole reason we put it on the table because it didn't satisfy a need.
This is another failed trade period plain and simple.
Sydney says they were told that Picks 5 and 9 wouldn’t be enough. So that explains why Sydney did not ‘offer’ 5 and 9.Dodoro said that Sydney only ever offered 9 and a future first; I believe it, given JD comes out of contract end of 2020.
train-wreck - where was this clown black friday 2002?Not sure how avoiding paying massive overs for 2 small forwards is a “train wreck” - but each to their own.
We can certainly play them both there even though I think Cuningham needs to be up across half forward. My concern is if Betts gets injured, I just feel like we’re going to end up playing players out of position again because we don’t have genuine small forwards. I’m happy to wait until after the draft to see what we do but I’m certainly a touch frustrated at the moment.I'd play Betts and Cuningham there. We have so many players to fit into the side, we aren't going to stack it with one position small forwards. Tigers supporters say that Butler is a one trick pony, even if it was a good trick 2 years ago.
we got voted wooden spooner of the trade period by michael barlow on GuesSEN......................
I reckon his team mates would understand that he wanted to go home and not hold it against him. If they do hold it against him then they are jerks...Keen to hear from our ITK posters in the wash up as to WTF happened and why we didn't have a backup plan. Went from very definitive news close to the end to not being done at all.
Pretty disappointing night regardless of the macho actions and who's at fault.
Feel for Paps who now has to try and keep his relationship alive for another year was living in another state.
With 3rd pick in the PSD, Martin will walk and put a huge price on his head agreed with us.
Demons with #2 will baulk as their salary cap is already pretty full.
And if Suns with #1 really hold him to ransom, and re-Draft him - imagine the message that sends to any young Sun recruit:
“COME TO US AND WE’ll LOCK YOU IN OUR SHITHOLE FOR LIFE!”
I’m gutted like most here about how today played out but we’ll get Martin for nothing and we’ll be laughing in a few weeks.
My only concern is if the AFL step in and give Martin a lucrative “ambassador” role to make him stay. Fair risk of that too the f***ers.
Oh how I long for the good old days when we picked up Mott, Morrell and Martyn.
