Why is Liddle acting like a big dog? He wasn’t even CEO at Richmond was he? He was the membership guy.

From memory he was pretty bloody lucky to land the job over more experienced operators like Lethlean.

Should focus on his own role, but sounds like SOS is gone regardless and it’s too late.

I am not unhappy with Silvagni. Cops a lot of heat but he has done a fantastic job.

The only reason why you wouldn't allow SOS to be there on draft night is if you think he's a risk of intentionally doing the wrong thing by the club on the night. And if you think that is even a remote possibility I would suggest you're not thinking logically about the situation.

I’m sorry if my posting wasn’t clear, I didn’t mean that you were unhappy with SOS, I was referring to the club.

It surprises me, if the club weren’t happy with him, that they would keep him there until after the draft.

The fact that he’s there, to me, shows the club has confidence in him

This is the shit we don't need as a club with such a bright future we are about to walk into.

Board level dramas are just crap and it filters through to the team in a time that is really inconvenient. I am backing SOS in this current issue and Liddle can **** off if it becomes a who stays and who goes between the 2.

Not unusual for a bloke to get a career promotion and then go all guns blazing trying to do too much and inserting themselves into situations they shouldn’t be in.

Liddle needs to be reigned in, but I don’t think his conviction is necessarily a bad thing - it just needs to be tempered.

Personally I think it’s a positive he has strong ideas about the way the list should be constructed, but he needs to work in collaboration with the list management team, and they’ve got the option of vetoing his position completely.

Liddle strikes me as an over promoted BDM.

You know the sort, walks into a sales job just at the point where the market turns in his favour and gets all the credit. That’s not to say that they don’t make good moves and do good things but there’s often a disconnect.

Maybe Stick to marketing, revenue generation, cost control etc.

La Dispute i think you hit it on the head.

Liddle isn't the clown if he's been given free reign.....well he is, but nevertheless..

Tell me how the President hasn't stepped in and laid down the law?
How can the President not do this and garner respect for him doing so by one and all, instead of allowing it to fester and what...not be happy? Crazy

Who said the President hasn't stepped in and laid down the law? Liddle will end up burning the club to the ground, guy is moronic

Why then is this a rolling scenario that's been in motion for months now?
If MLG has stepped in, what is the outcome of his involvement...and being angry doesn't count.

How can any board allow this situation to fester without intervention and putting a stop to it. Not good enough regardless of how one sells it.

It would be preferable if you could articulately debate the opinions you disagree with rather than blanket dismiss them in no uncertain terms.

Please and thank you :)
ha ha. No.. when it is speculation built on speculation, built on speculation it is blanket garbage to me.

Things that actually have foundations of reality is where discussion is worthy and you find I discuss.

Generated a spike in membership with the “thank you for sticking with us thorough the hard time’s we are going to automatically upgrade your membership for free” program this year.

The shit has already hit the fan with next years membership as people have to opt out if they want to go back to their previous membership level otherwise they will have to pay the upgrade price for next year.

I’m sensing Liddle is going to be up against it if it’s an “either him or me” battle versus SOS if Logudice is the referee.

The problem is ...and let's say it is Liddle for the sake of the discussion....what do we do?
How silly would we look to the football world to sack him? How do we sell that idea as being in the best interests of the club?

If everything we're reading today is on the money, how does the CFC escape with a clean sheet? It simply cannot and would be seen to be irresponsible and incapable. Not good for future sponsors nor members.

Big problem to have and a bigger problem again for how this kind of situation could have come about?
Who is siding with who? Is it MLG & SOS vs Liddle & LLoyd and if so, another poor perception of the club comes about whether we like it or not and the tune of 'The Old Boys club' will ring again loud and clear.

May as well employ Laurel and hardy with a rendition of: 'This is another fine mess you've got us into'. Thanks CFC.

I think it's pretty obvious how this all played out.

MLG isn't a bad guy nor is he blatantly incompetent. You don't get as far as he has in this world as he has if you are (even those who've been silver spoon fed get found out before reaching the point he has). I think his biggest problem is that his natural character is to be everybody's best mate. We've heard examples - from posters on this board - who have said what a lovely guy he is, how engaging he is, etc, etc. There's nothing wrong with having people at the club with that type of personality. In fact, it's endearing. However, ultimately, that's the wrong personality type to be an overseeing presidential type. It's the type who, for lack of better words, is brushed aside too easily and fails to take a hard line stand when it's required.

SOS had everyone headed in the right direction. However, 2018 and the first half of 2019 screwed him into a fate worse than Bolton. It shouldn't have. Strong personality type but always wanting to do the best for the football club in his eyes. Great when everyone is on board with you but...

Liddle was always a strong personality type. As strong a personality as Silvagni but with a job title that gave him power over Silvagni. With the way that his signing was promoted -- "look at how good he was with Richmond" -- that's the horse he rode in on. When things faltered with Bolton it had a natural follow on effect to SOS. Cain would have been "This is the way I did it at Richmond... This is what worked... This is how it will be here too" and that sadly ended up with a Liddle Vs SOS situation and SOS having the lesser role was always going to draw the short straw regardless of his and his family's historic and continued contributions at the club.

No. It would not have happened with a stronger personality type at president. The president would have told Cain to stay in his lane and to lead the financial resurgence of the club.

Ultimately, SOS is paying for 2018 and the first half of 2019 and has lost out to an equally big personality but who is in an even more superior role.

Think you’re being harsh with MLG.

The best operators I know have been “velvet sledgehammers”.

FWIW - that’s how he comes across to me.

He’s done an amazing job and seemed to have achieved it without seriously pissing people off.

That’s quite an art.
