Hard to believe Broomhead broke his leg round 1 of 2018 and he's still not right to go.

Hell even Scharenberg was back quicker after suffering one knee injury after another.

Not much point in him pushing to come back, it's his last year on the list regardless, should just focus on rehab then post-footy.

A bit premature with that outcome? Pretty sure he’d be keen on playing again as you wouldn’t get this far without the desire. Would love him to have another go at it.

Round 2 lol
He was right, but he had the pin from the surgery taken out from his leg, so had to wait til it healed. But definitely making progress

He wasn't good enough before spending 2 years out with a horrific injury that he probably won't fully recover from.

He's a small 26 year old who is still a mile away from being best 22...

Being best friends with Grundy is handy though

Hmmmm, and here I was thinking he was actually in the senior team when he broke his leg.... silly me.

Corey Gault played a few games too, does that make him best 22?

I never said Broomhead was best 22, just challenging your comment that he wasn't good enough before the broken leg (20+ possessions + scoreboard impact in senior games tells a completely different story) and that he's a mile away from best 22.

So you agree he wasn't best 22 before he broke his leg?

The senior team is effectively the best 22 that week as picked by the selection committee so it doesn't matter what you or I think.

For the record, as I've said elsewhere, I don't bother too much with rankings but if pushed I'd have thought he was fringe but that he'd repeatedly demonstrated that he could quite easily entrench himself in the senior side if he was to get a crack at it. Whether he was at that point before the broken leg we'll never know because of the limited exposure (3% TOG) in that game which was actually his 1st senior game on return from injury. For anyone to claim he was never good enough or miles from best 22 is just a crock because all the evidence says otherwise.

The "Tib/Fib" break is just about the worst injury an athlete can sustain in terms of rehab and re-adjustment. (And yeah I know blokes have broken their necks and more traumatic injuries) The double break is far more traumatic than an ACL or the like. Most times they come back slower and with less "spring" and kicking power (Nathan Brown WB/ Rich) suffered the same horrific break and was never the same again.
I wish Broomy well in his comeback but the chances are slim that he'll recover his speed and agility.

Took him a lot of time to find his feet in the VFL when he returned last year so it'll be interesting to watch his progress this year when he gets back.

I said he is currently miles away from being best 22, not miles away 2 years ago

The other aspect is the psychological one. I can't imagine playing again after that -- I mean, I'd be terrified. He did play last year though, so he's had some time.

No, you said "is still miles away".

Correct. Probably others will disagree, but I haven't seen anything from him to make me think he'd make it as a first grader prior to his injury.

A bit harsh given what he's been through, but no question he'll be gone at the end of the year.

I have seen enough to know he can play AFL. But I’ve seen a fair bit of VFL too, and he’s too good for that level. Unfortunately his early years were marred by injury too, but when he was fit, he contributed. If he’d had continuity I’d be guessing - and it’s just speculation - he’d be taking C Brown or JT or even wHE‘s spot.
