Rhys Archard by the length of the straight. 5 or 6 best and fairests, 4 league medals including a Magarey Medal. Vic country rep x 2 and GV rep a number of times. Guy Campbell wouldn’t have tied his shoe laces. Guy was good but Rhys was so so much better. Gary Cooper was the next best thing to Rhys then Newman. Honourable mention would be Robbie Miller although I dint know if Robbie had a run at an AFL club or not. He would be ahead of Campbell in my book.

Miller was at Carlton '86-'87. Sat on the bench for the entire game (without a run) in a Reserves premiership. Apparently Walls was not a fan.

Believe an email has been sent to every AFL player stating that. Will affect WAFL,NEAFL and SANFL competitions as well as the VFL. If the VFL goes ahead believe it could be an U/23 competition with top age TAC players .

Hard one I'm thinking will be how to manage those leftover players, and given most clubs look set to lose mimum 15 or so current staff from their football departments, who'll be left to overlook them in terms of keeping up the loads on the right days etc when the rest of the club are off contesting AFL games.

Love the fact there are now definitive guidelines beginning to roll out, obviously dates can't be added yet but it's a start, especially for those at a semi-elite level who more than likely use it as a form of "declarable" income.

SANFL and WA have been able to get their shit in order.
For those interested SANFL is 3 groups of 10 on one oval at any one time, starting next Monday.

I think the assumption is (well certainly mine is) that internal conversations are occurring -- however, we (being the general public) are hearing the same out of both bodies.

Not all organisations are built equal. Do the AFL hold the same level of control in other states as they do here in Victoria. Did the other states ease or relax restrictions earlier than here in Victoria allowing more time to get things out? Just because someone has done things first, faster or different doesn’t mean it’s the right way.

We all have our opinions as we have clearly articulated over weeks on here. It’s pretty easy to find evidence to support those opinions..whatever they are.

I am strongly of the belief that there is no right or wrong in this type of situation. Those in positions to make decisions are doing the best they can

I remember Langan playing at Eaglehawk. Did he play at Square as well?. I remember him going over to Shepparton when his Brother Scott Coached.

The AIS document along with the national cabinets decision all came out at the same time for each state , which I’d have thought was the trigger to finalise protocols at the various stages . ( I am pretty confident all had prior knowledge of what both the AIS and fed cabinet were going to release)
Whilst to release a statement indicating the delay in releasing protocol was due to insurance and then meeting with a portion of stakeholders to discuss the planned protocol seemingly prior to finalising and releasing I find quite deceitful .

I agree mate but there appears to be no decision lol. Today, the AFL confirmed that they do not give anything but fresh air to State and community competitions.Oh and if State and community football does nit go ahead it just so happens that the ratings go up in time for a new broadcast deal

no you would be right there dragon fly my mistake I knew he played in Bendigo just not sure of club.Played with him up here in Noosa at end of his career.Absiolute gun!

A fair side that '93 Shepparton team. The Langan brothers, Strauch, Gallagher and Butts from Carlton, Mellington. Pulled off the great heist of '93 with the after the siren win. Not sure if Umpire Freer had a beer with the boys!

Yep Adam Houlihan after the siren... he also qualifies as a draftee, drafted by essendon from ky, never to play an afl game

Paulo always said the team coached themselves. But think he was down playing his significance. Will see how much a difference he made with new bloke at the helm with almost a similar side. Edwards jointly coached with Paulo the U18s to a flag in 2013. Was respected for his nous and leadership then. Now coaching some of the same players.
