I get you are going to get anomaly's but even across these condensed rounds, you can't have such big discrepancies of one team getting a 4 day break and another a 6 day break and then to top it off, that same team that has a shorter break then gets one day less than its next opponent.

We're going to find out a lot at the least. How much of our depth do we actually trust right now?

Witherden
Answerth
Christensen
CEY
Mathieson

Thats it in my opinion. After that I'm really unsure what we're getting from the rest. Some players who have only played a 1 or a couple of games in Robertson, Skinner, Hinge, Cox, Allison really need to step up.

Even more reason to start getting some games into them now rather than just throw them and expect everything from them immediately.

You're right, but then we're also potentially compromising our current games. Still I think 1 at a time wouldn't hurt. Outside of the 5 I listed there is a fair bit of talent that can come in and do a job I hope.

It won’t happen, but...

Time to split the midfielders in to two units, and alternate midfields each game.

Neale
Mathieson
Bailey
McCluggage
T.Berry
J.Berry
Smith

Robertson
Lyons
Zorko
Hinge
Robinson
Joyce
Ellis-Yolmen

We can rest and rotate some of our medium and small defenders and forwards on a needs basis, with Witherden, Answerth, Christensen and Cox.

Looks like Archie might get a couple more games, if we rotate our rucks.

Same with Skinner and Payne if we rotate our talls at either end.

Now, you know how much I hate to criticise the Suns but they are the biggest winners through the first 12 rounds of the season

- Gold Coast (8 home / 1 in same state away / 3 interstate)
- Brisbane (5 home / 3 in same state / 4 interstate)
I fixed it for you. To make you feel better in the last batch Suns will probably play 1-2 games in Tasmania (North and Hawks). Cairns and Darwin even Townsville are also on the cards if allowed.

Enjoy Lions ride. It looks like it could be your year.

I really don't know why the AFL didn't schedule our game against the Dogs one day later on 9 August, and play the Eagles-Blues game on 8 August instead.

That way we'd get a 5 day break and a 6 day break instead of 4 and 7, and the Dogs get a 6 day break and 7 day break instead of 5 and 8.

West Coast would get a 7 day break and 7 day break instead of 8 and 6, and Carlton get a 9 day break and 7 day break instead of 10 and 6.

Just seems like wins all round.

Some of those turn arounds aren’t ideal. But shorter quarters this year were put in place for this reason. We’ve also had a 9 day break post Geelong & 8 days post GWS coming into Sunday so we haven’t actually played a lot of footy the past couple of weeks. I’m not a fan of that 4 day break but I think we should be able to keep a reasonably consistent 22. I’d be open to the fitness staff/coaches spinning the magnets though. They would have a clear idea of workloads for each player.

We’re also at Metricon for our next 4 including Melbourne so there will be some benefits with little travel and recovery.

The AFL aren't known for their common sense, this is just another example.

Interesting seeing reactions from supporters of all the clubs on the main boards. My first reaction was damn, the AFL must have reacted to the noise in the media about our perceived advantage & premiership favoritism. But then started reading the gripes from all the other teams' supporters & thought, y'know what, we haven't got it too bad lol. The short break for the Tigers game isn't great but meh, it could be worse.

The pies have 4 games in 13 days same as us, except they're flying all over the bloody place as well. Perth to Bris, to Adel & back to Bris. Damn, that's gotta be tough for recovery.

Frightful job trying to satisfy anybody so may as well dissatisfy everybody.

I think all the clubs will be looking at their draw and targeting the games they can win and those that are problematic . We all hear the blah blah we're out there giving it 100% every time and that's the mindset you preach to the players but the inner brains trust will be working out their preparations now. It's a short season but a more challenging one and what you need are your best players firing at the end if you're in contention.

In our case we apparently have guys on our list who should be playing so we'll find out soon enough what they've got.

The Cats-Power game at the Gabba on 14 August also looks a bit questionable. Could have easily played it the following day at Metricon, giving Geelong five days rather than four to prepare.

Of course, then there's no Friday night game, but Sydney-GWS or another contest could have been moved there.

That makes me wonder if the AFL might have given a few quiet directives to teams about not tanking. Because it would be an embarrassment if the Cats were to put out their reserves team for Friday night footy.

Don't want to be 'that' guy, but the Tigers have a pretty cruisey schedule IMO lol. Still think we'll beat them ;)

Tom Morris is such a douche, saying Brisbane are the big winners of rounds 9-12 on Fox's OTC.

He obviously highlighted Gold Coast for playing four straight in Queensland, but to actually just throw that line away goes to show how little dick's like him even scrutinise the draw.

And muppets like him are getting paid for this shit.

It's not too dissimilar to the turn around that players from NRL state of origin used to have, (haven't watched it for years now so don't know if it's still the same), Broncos & Storm for years had a heap of players that had to back up & play a regular round game on the weekend after playing SOO on the Wednesday. You'd sit back & say, how the hell did those players do that after half a week's break. A lot of it is in the mind & I think we've got a great back end team that will revel in a situation like this.

Geelong also has appears to be at a disadvantage with the release of rounds 9-12 considering a few 4 day breaks and flying back from Perth. Out of the next 5 games, the Lions playing three games just down the M1, one at the Gabba and one in Hobart against a depleted North is not too bad, yes the 4 day breaks are a negative but a few of the other clubs are similar with turnaround days and are flying back from Perth. Overall I think we have done okay with the fixture.

What the hell is going on with the legislated 6 games in Melbourne

I'll be campaigning for 11 games in 2021, just to make it up.

They can play a Q-Clash down there.
