Dow played two games not one.
Murphy had 18 disposals and laid 4 tackles. Dow had 8 disposals and didn’t lay one tackle.
Dow couldn’t stay in the team after last weeks performance. Beyond the stats he looked either confused at best or disinterested at worst.
Paddy wow... more like paddys busted... wow. My high hopes for him all but shattered thanks to the way he is playing

Nope, offers. And always will.

Polson might be quick by foot but SPS is quicker where it counts, between the ears ;)

Yep fair enough.
Wouldn't count Polson out though. Seems to me he's started to work it all out and will develop into a better than average backman/footy player.
He's not that slow of witt either.

Still, Walshy and Weiters are the smartest footballers we have I reckon.

Not to mention how they are treating players like Hogan and Cam McCarthy. Named players who were under performing and not professional vs how we gift games.
Not sure that he was agreeing with you by pointing out that they were playing older blokes in there as well.

Not sure that you strengthen your argument by pointing out blokes with known mental health issues either.

Quite like the team. Clearly plow and Cuners are considered starting 22 players, rotating tdk and Pitto depending on the opposition (last week Pitto and the lumbering Mummy, this week tdk on the more mobile Sinclair), Owies has been knocking down the door whilst Eddie has been struggling.
I will be happy provided the team shows desire for the fight. I will be unhappy if they play like * on Sunday.

Freo are relying on their kids drafted as midfield to play midfield. It has been WIDELY reported this weak that Walters as an example is not happy because he is playing forward. Fyfe has also been playing forward and limited midfield time for he and Mundy.

RELYING on their kids is paying off in performance and development.

Mental health issues or physical issues you are FIT to play and perform or you are not. We are gifting games to players who are not physically or mentally ready to perform eg McGovern.

This is my one gripe so far with Teague. Guys drafted as mids not playing there.

Cuningham, Dow and SPS just off the top of my head all drafted as mids and none playing there. You could throw Fisher in there as well.

Is it really a surprise that Cuners best game this year was when he spent more time up field? Or that Dows season really fell apart last year once he was taken out of the middle and played forward? Or that more people are giving up on SPS than ever before now he's playing defence?

Dow in particular has shown time and time again that he is not a forward and kind of has to only play mid, at least right now. Yet as soon as he gets into the 1s up forward he goes.

Also Stocker playing off Half Back and Philp as a Forward...

It is just nuts.

Looking forward to getting Zac Williams to play as Fullback or in the Ruck. 10/10

I thought that we were gifting games to McGovern due to us having to justify his price tag?

Not sure how you think that post conflicts with my previous statement? McGovern IS being gifted games because of his name and contract over kids who are held to significantly higher standards.

McGovern has regressed since coming to Carlton. NO two ways about it and id argue its because he is unfit and therefore unprofessional.

Yeah, dropped after showing some real improvement and wasn't performing bad enough to warrant being left out of the side compared to SPS.

Club def see more in SPS than Polson, but he's gotta start showing something soon or else he'll probably be traded for a mid second rounder next year.

SPS has been horrendous, but I think a lot of people are overplaying how good Polson has been. For a 4th year player, with no real position or role within the team, got absolutely toweled up against Collingwood and was okay against GWS. I would prefer that we persevere with SPS or give a kid a chance rather than wasting games on Polson.

McGovern has been very good this year and played the role we needed him to, last year though he was awful and was IMHO behind Charlie, Harry, JSOS & Levi in terms of tall forwards..

There's a few more at that level too, Cripps, Doc, Betts, Fish to name a few.

On the flip side of that,

Dow and Cuners have shown no capacity to run out a full 4 quarters in the middle. And SPS is another midfielder who lacks pace and the ability to run both ways.

It’s not these guys fault that they’ve all had injury issues that have hampered pre seasons along the way. But it’s also not the clubs responsibility to put them in when they aren’t ready. The endurance required to play midfield isn’t built during the season, it’s built in preseason. Until these guys get a consistent go at a preseason, they’ll continue to be bit part players at best in our midfield

The standards for very good must have dropped considerably. He is still well and truly behind Charlie, Harry, JSOS and even Levi.

As I have mentioned this year he has averaged less marks, goals and disposals than any season in his career. Including his first season and last year...... So can't see how he is better this year or anywhere near best 22 with our full list available.

Great comments from diesel today. If Paddy wants to reach his potential he's gotta work harder.

Yes that is a fair crack from someone who would obviously have more insights into how Paddy works at training. It must be cutting Paddy deeply that he is struggling to get a game for us, yet his little brother is now playing senior footy with Richmond, he will either crack the sads and request a trade or will pull his finger out over the offseason and come back the player we all want him to be.
