Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

No reason for Saad to our cost pick 25 (our second rounder or thereabouts).

Essendon got him from Gold Coast for a future 2nd rounder, Saad is three years older, our third rounder or future third rounder is more than enough.

Hill cost St Kilda more than he did Freo. That's what happens when a player improves at their second club.

Really hope more supporters come around to this kind of thinking.

I feel like so many people are terrified by being burnt by a player coming good elsewhere, rather than actually proactively improving the side.

We have too many young mids, it's okay to trade a talented player as long as you address areas of weakness.

When the rebuild started I don't think SOS, the club or anyone really thought every single draft pick would stay.

SOS loaded us up with young talent. Im sure he always planned for some to become trade collatoral for the pieces we need.

Don’t really respect Robbo, but if this is untrue it’s an odd thing to make up.
Really hoping that it is not purely a financial decision. I know it appears that ZW has chosen us over NM, but I don’t want him to have regret about leaving as that means he won’t be fully invested in CFC.
Who knows?

Fantastic start to our finals series - otherwise known as trade season. Hope and optimism eternal. Williams is exactly what we need, and I hope we play him in the guts!
Go Blues!

He's 26, way past it, too old...

In all seriousness, Saad is worth a pick between 15-25, depending on how highly you rate him. Anyone who says pick 25+ is taking the ******* piss.

He runs around in circles and breaks the lines but his kicking is dodgy, for sure Essendon think the sun shines out of his proverbial, but if you want to give up a second rounder, by all means.

You wouldn’t catch SOS ponying up that sort of asset for a player like Saad.

;)

It depends on the degree of salary cap squeeze that's happening up there, coupled with how much we actually offered.

If they could barely afford to give him above 400 a year, an offer of 600-700 is too good to refuse, and while going to Nth could net him 1 million + a year is it really worth going there to be a leader without prospects of success until very late in his career?

Gibbs serves as a none too subtle reminder of how quickly it can come for you at the end, and how fickle a rebuilding team can be with its senior players once fallen. Nth is a fraught endeavour for players at the moment, and 1 million a year or not, it's just figures to a young bloke who doesn't take active interest in their contract.
