He jumps 3.5m????

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Total reach, highest point

"Absolute" is more relevant as a ruck rather just how high they can jump and rucks rarely feature in the top postings. I think the tallest bloke in this years top 10 was Denver Granger-Barras and hes a KPD.

The absolute reach doesnt really get mentioned outside of an AFL article.

They reported it in 2015 when Weiters came 3rd at 344 behind Chol and Nygon. Strangely never again

He's not without his strengths though. Agressive, mobile ruckman with an elite vertical. There are areas which need improvement but training with the club in the 2019/2020 wouldve identified that and given him something to work on. Then COVID happened and of course not being able to apply them on the field.

But given one of the major knocks was his overall running/endurance this is certainly an area he couldve worked on during lockdown. The club is getting a good look at him now though. Guess we'll see.

No doubt there are things to like about his game. Not suggesting otherwise.

I am though suggesting that some people on here are looking at the surname and losing all perspective.

Using a pick on him in the 30s is madness IMO. Suggesting we should trade up from that position to snare him because Geelong might be keen because he's a Geelong boy is equally as mad.

Suggesting we should chuck all our picks on the table to get as high as we can to snare him purely because he's Sam's brother is not madness but beyond. It's bat-shit crazy.

I'm not sure I've seen anywhere that has him going in the second round. Now I know that's not the be all and end all and in fact I've argued long and hard against people judging drafts based on phantoms and rankings, but what we're seeing from some on this board leaves that for dead.

I see your point, but I think its a 2020 vibe. I think I saw Sam Edmund predict 25-45 for him. And I guess once all the WA and SA top end talent most people, myself included, tend to think its a bit of a lotto. Particularly post the first round and perhaps even sooner. So why not go for the brand you know and trust?

And for what its worth, no one had TDK going top 30. No one. Most had him rated in 50s and 60s. Silvagni has lost his mind was the common rhetoric. And perhaps they were right. Perhaps we could have got him cheaper. But no one is questioning whether they think De Koning is a top 30 pick. Theres not a club in the league who wouldnt have taken him with a pick in the late 20s if they had of known then what they know today.

A common theme on this board is we need a project ruckman (as well as a project KPD) and he not only fits the bill but has now trained with the club over two preseasons. Hes probably the only Victorian 2020 draftee we've had the opportunity to have a real good look at.

Always said you do your best work when I am snoring at 5:18 am ....... :thumbsu:

Seems really odd to me that the National Draft is next week, when cricket season is now in full swing..

Feels like my whole body clock is out of whack, like when you travel abroad to the US or Europe etc.

Only really weird because of the season ending later than usual. The draft is only 2 and 3 days after the start of pre-season training so the timing is actually pretty good.

I guess at this stage it's like overpaying for Saad, you do it because of fit and need, not best available.

Geebers.

Pagans final game as coach on Fox, and things are not going well.

Jordan Bannister said Pagan told him at half time to enjoy the 2nd half as he’d never play senior footy again while he was coach.

Next week.....

My thoughts exactly. 27 and 38 should have got a pick round 15-20.
I just can’t see any team in that first round range actually going back in the draft order by giving up that early of a pick, none of them require points so imo handing over a first round pick would be foolish, they would be hoping too maybe trade up not back...

Showing a lot of interest in Jacob Wehr, hard running HBF/Wing from the SANFL. Elite left peg, exciting prospect that got to play a full year of footy in 2020.

Looks better than LOB already.

Just one question. The club is aware that you can't play 8 x HBF's?

Got a beautiful long striding gate.

Gold Coast's swaps with Geelong last year and this year are very lopsided, BUT in both cases they desperately needed to get rid of their pick.

This year's pick 11 was contingent on them still needing assistance, so they traded it in case they improved and the AFL decided not to give it to them.

They wouldn't have used this year's 27, so again, they needed to offload it.

OK, each time, Geelong took them to the cleaners and I wish we had done those trades with them. But GC had very little choice and perhaps Geelong was the first to call them each time....?

Whatever the case, they were bad deals, but deals that needed to be done.
This years deal is ridiculous, so even if Melbourne end up with say pick 10 so their third round would be around pick 44, that’s incredibly lopsided... Why GCS didn’t ask for something better for pick 27 is a little baffling...
