That would be very handy substitutes, not sure what it does to our culture as a footy club though..
Would it greatly impact culture? you still have Doc around and it shows good culture if we are compassionate enough to release Cripps for the betterment of his personal life (as long as fairly compensated). Walsh, Weits and others are starting to step up and losing Cripps might be the impetus needed for the next generation to put their hand up finally, especially as come the end of this season Murphy, Betts are gone with Cas and Ed possibilities or relegated to depth.

Was trying to lip read words between Crippa and Walshy at the end of the game. Looked like Crippa ws saying "you've gone past me mate" and Walshy was saying "nah no way mate"
I hope Crippa doesn't believe that. Whatever is wrong with him, firmly beieve he will get back to his best. Loved his last q work.

cripps just needs a tad more space and time, a chop out or two wouldnt go astray.

There was also another interaction where he put his arms around Docherty as they walked off the ground. Just looked invested in the club

I think in the majority of the cases these days the "bleed for the club" mentality is done and dusted. Football is a business for most of these lads now. I will not be surprised in the slightest if/when his player manager announces he is seeking a trade at the end of the year. I also wouldn't be surprised if it's a blessing for the mid-to-long term future of the club.
Will you be surprised when he signs his new carlton contract?

Don't want to lose Cripps but if you could turn him into say Cerra and Merrett (assuming we free up other salary) you'd lose grunt but be much more dynamic in open play

I know it will tough losing Cripps, seeing him go from baby face to beast in the midfield. But free agency / OOC is what it is, and we shouldn’t be holding on to him if he wants to go.

We’re stacked for players at the stoppages including Stocker, Setterfield and soon Kemp who won’t get a game in there just cause of the numbers.

I’m not saying any can replace Cripps 1-to-1, but we’re well covered in this area with bright young kids ready to play their preferred positions.

Agreed. I think people mistake professionalism for "bleeding for the jumper".

I always work my ass off, even when I know I'm about to leave a company, because I'm a professional and I take my job seriously.

Footy players are no different.

Still, I hope the rumours are wrong, and he stays.

Perhaps the big H contract is holding things up re Cripps re signing.
The emergence of H as a KPF powerhouse won’t be lost on his manager who will be pushing the club hard for every cent with other clubs circling with evil intent.
Maybe Cripps has given the club his verbal commitment and said, just sort H out first and we can structure my contract to suit afterwards.
Now that would be leadership ...

No. Based on my experience working at another major sports organisation, these things can go either way. If he was a "die for the jumper" type, he would have already signed. If both parties were serious about a fair deal that works for everyone, they could hash out the core elements in an hour and have the legalese done in a couple of days. AFL contracts are fairly-cookie cutter.

Cripps's situation isn't straightforward. He has family concerns, a player manager trying to get the most $$$ for his client, and a personal agenda like most modern players do. The club is hopefully doing the smart thing and keeping their options open too.

I really hope we are building a dynasty with our player contracts, no one on more than say $800k.
This is how Richmond and Geelong have been so successful. Everyone buying in and accepting less money for more success

So do I. The key is to have the personalities to buy into the collective. Not sure our co-Captain is of that ilk. Not sure if our club has instilled those values yet either.

Worried he doesn't get the same media attention?

Nah, I worded my post really poorly. Both Cripps and McKay are OOC, yet it is Cripps contract that is talked about in the media and by ITK posters on here and there has been no strong rumours about Harry re-signing soon. I don’t know how to interpret that.

Not supporting De Goey at all, not a fan, but if you read the Pies board he's not the only one not playing for the coach.
Not surprising the way the club put it on the players that they wanted Trealor gone. It was only going to be about money after that and loyalty to the club a distant second.

There are plenty that haven't signed yet in the same position, bont and Merritt for example. Plenty of reasons why it takes a while. Pretty comfortable that he has given every indication that he will stay.- that's good enough for me.

Lachie Henderson begs to differ.
