Not for all the hype she gets. You'd think she was the number 1 footballer in the league. Be lucky to be top 20.

Hype has nothing to do with her ability.

In the end, she isn't even getting any marketing money from melbourne.

Wasn't that the whole point of leaving carlton?

That was Carlton's version of events.

She has talent, just needs a bit more work ethic. Top 2 mark in the womens game and really, should be even better due to her athleticism, size and kciking ability

Gues we Rate Someone as Moving up with 1 Pick and Trading Down the 2nd Pick

As I read it we've essentially traded out of the 1st round but loaded up in the 2nd. I think that gives us 4 2nd round picks.

Her injury I'm assuming.
" The 24-year-old’s campaign was cut short due to a degenerative knee condition. "

A Langdon situation. :(

Looks like it. Shame for her.

In other news, Abbey Green has announced her retirement from the game.

Green was traded to the Pies from North Melbourne last year in the 2020 AFLW trade and sign period.

The 24-year-old’s campaign was cut short due to a degenerative knee condition.

Woodlands-Thompson thanked Green for her contribution to the program.

“The club thanks Abbey for her resilience in what would have been a challenging season,” Woodlands-Thompson said.

“We wish Abbey all the very best with her future endeavours.”

This finalises Collingwood’s outgoing list changes which includes Norder (retired), Stratton (delisted), Shevlin (traded), and Green (retired).

Yeah, I read that. Another Langdon. Poor girl. :( Very unfortunate.

I'm happy with the
"No more players leaving now".

So,
4 out and 2 in.
Jordan Membrey on the inactive list.

We can draft 3 players with the 19, 20 and 21 picks in the Vic draft.
Is that correct?
And does this then mean that Jordan has to be out for the entire season?
ACL from Feb. so not unreasonable but not a certainty, I would have thought.

Seems like the Irish women are returning for a Christmas in Melbourne as well.

I've been wondering about that as well.
Read that the list needs to be 27 at the end of this period, which assumes 3 picks min in draft.
I was wondering who the last person would be (Norder = Downie, shevlin = Fredrick, Stratton....and 2 more???)

I'd assumed we were going to put Membrey on inactive list (as season starts a month earlier this year, so will be all but done by Feb).
Shame, but with list sizes only been 30, its hard to keep players that are unlikely to be a part of it. I'm sure they'll keep her involved with a view to re-instating her next year.

i was thinking they would need to make a harsh call on one of the draftees, Velardo, Purcell or another youngster....turns out its a career ending injury which saves us from a harsh call.

Its a big shame for Abbey. She had the tools and wasn't on top of my list for delisting.
But it opens the path for the youngsters to force their way in, knowing that Membrey will be back (very underrated) and we have to make at least 2 more list changes.

Kept our list together, who are super young.
We got monstered by Adelaide this year, so another year of development and gym will do us wonders!

Also makes sense for the pick swap we did.
gives us 3 picks in a row to draft a combination of best available and needs. Very handy.

A very good (and i presume underrated by the AFLW media) offseason so far.

Some very nice re-signings here!

And for 2 years,
which I presume protects them from the new clubs!
Although I wouldn't count on the AFL to not be able to negate a contract somehow if it suits expansion.

These girls will take us a long way. We HAVE to hang onto them.
