I'd like to think there is still plenty of room for club loyalty in the world but obviously this is becoming less common each day. I have great respect for good players that stick with one club for nothing when they could easily go elsewhere and make some money.

no doubt, club loyalty is very important in country footy, cos without those players, u cannot have a club. i also respect club loyalty, but sometimes, change is good and u cant hold players back who are thriving to play at the next level.

Seems strange that they both left and have not ventured back though. Thanks Wonker.

I think that they have made their homes elsewhere King which is not unusual in this age of the transient population. You probably couldn't say that Shane 'Megsy' Field will never play for Avoca again.
If the gigantic amount of coin he is reported to be receiving this season is true, then why would he be back at present.

I think you have one 'James Bond' over there King. Would you elaborate as to the reasons why he hasn't ventured back?

Wonker/Shamui who is this Anthony McLean from Murtoa?? Any Good??

Also interesting to see that Klai Jermyn has applied for a clearance from Maine to Newstead. Erratic but talented player that played for Harcourt the season before last. Will get a torrid reception when he plays Harcourt I would think!

I honestly wouldn't know and I think its a mystery to most at the club. A few that are close to him would be in the know. Just one of those things. We'd love to have him back one day in any capacity to be honest. Its been a bloody long time since he was seen in a Talbot Guernsey now though!

This year would have to be one of the biggest years for clearances into the league from recent memory. Granted Trentham account for a lot but there seems to be a lot of players making their way into the league this year.

You might have to ask your old mate Smasher on the NCFL thread - at the moment he is an unknown quantity.

We will get a look at him and the other surprise recruit this Sunday when Avoca plays Moyston/Willaura at the Avoca Public Park.

With the amount of recruits coming into the league at present the standard must only get stronger you would think.

I prefer not to talk footy with Smasher Wonker!!! LOL

i think the vast numbers of clearances that have come through may have to do with clubs realising that they needed to recruit well to match is with the best eg harcourt.

you play footy to win premierships, and if things kept going the way they were then harcourt would have them on a platter like last season

Gday there guys, your spot on there Wonker in that the big fella has relocated and is now living in the Western, hence is why he is not back playing with the bulldogs at present. As the guy is only 27 I would say that he still has a few more years left in him, so still has time on his side to venture on back to the old stomping ground eventually to finish off where it all started. Also players of his ilk that r good enough to earn a quid from playing footy, you can't entirley blame them from moving away from their home town to do so, as look at the cost of living and soforthe nowadays. Extra money of that kind can pay their houses off and sets them up in life and for some may even be their main source of income.

As I happen to live with the big fella and have a fair insight into his football intentions, without hinting too much, I invisage that the big fella will play out his career at the club where it all started................

i've been away from this league for a few years and was just wondering what teams are lookin good this year? any one got a ladder position ect?

also heard a whisper that dunolly have been in some pretty serious talks with some ex players heard they mite be talkin to the greaco boys and the hutchins boys...any truth in it?

I love the blue writing Mighty Roar - how did you do that? It's heartening to learn that he might be back one day. We still see plenty of the big fella. You had better come too Mighty Roar as I know that you would fit in very well at the kennel.

Heard a whisper that Baz Gorman might be heading Carisbrook way this season. Baz was good value at Avoca because while he was around you always had someone to laugh at your jokes.

The result of the practice match against Moyston/Willaura was a one sided affair with Avoca running out winners by 16 or 17 goals. A good hit out, a great social day but sadly mis-matched as the opposition is at the very early stages of building a competitive outfit. They have some good people involved in the club so you would expect to see considerable improvement over the next couple of years. Never saw a kick all day so will have to ask Shamui who played well. I was kept busy all day turning snags. It was good to see your brother back running around in the red white and blue stripes again Shamui.

The netballers are talking about starting the season on time - what happens there - especially if they drop the last three games off at the end of the season as King indicated was the delegates decision.

There are STRONG rumours floating around that I am hearing that the season will start on time. I think it will.

As for the Netballers starting on time if we dont... Its a good theory but I doubt they could make it work. A lot of netballers rely on Footballers to get to the games etc so I'm not sure if it will work but its something that should be looked at as there is no reason why they should be waiting as the asphalt is ready to go!

Heard Brook got a fair touchup from Wedderburn on the weekend. Did they have many out? Anyone see the game?

Well Willy as you'd probably remember I've always had aspirations to play at the kennel and tried to come there many years ago, however had no luck in doing so. Would still like to have a kick there someday, so you never know, might just come across with the big fella when/if he returns there.

As for the blue writing mate, click on the letter A in the tool bar when you reply to a quote and go from there!!:thumbsu:

How many football clubs do you reckon you can play for mighty? Becoming a bit of the town bike.

Geez Mighty, that was a long time ago....we must be getting old!

Lads, A quick wrap up of the Avoca V Moyston Willaura match - As atated by Wonka they were a little undermanned but accounted for themselves fairly well. Played about 5 qtrs with the Bulldogs running out easy winners. Better playes would include B. Veitch, T. Barker, T Bellenger, M Wardlaw, J Tapner. Wonka's star recruit was probably the best man on the ground, as stated previously "watch this space"....

Any clues on the star recruit??

Saw your coach there King Rich. Out at Carisbrook. No Sanders, Tatchell, Edwards, Graco's, Lang, Nick McKinley, No Ruckman if they have one, No sign of the New Rover (Liston), Baz Gorman played, so did Treacey only real new faces, other than the Robbo's from Avoca & Bursill boy's look like they are back. So looks to be differenty outfit Brook will line up with. Hard to tell really how they look as Wedderburn are meant to be strong this year and a better league. Wedderburn did have a player playing F/F how was on the lions list not long ago Schammer his name is. Spoke to a bloke on there Commitee, he just dominated the game.

How did Treacy go? What type of player is he?? Fair list of outs.... Have they managed to secure a Ruckman for this year does anyone know?? This was a weakness last year and now with Megs gone becomes a large hole!

Wonker has that start recruit signed yet heard a whisper he has played a bit of major leage football

Lots of outs & a very young & undersized side took to the field. The boys went very well against a very good side with lots of promising signs. The new faces were probably best with the two new Robbo's finding the pill & in a great sign for the club both Bursill's were looking dangerous with young Burs particulary getting heaps of the ball. Great to see them back. Tracey was definately in brooks best & it'll be interesting to see where they play him. Not big for a forward but big for a midfielder. He looks like he goes very well. great bloke too! Wrighty looks like he could be even more dangerous again this year. Will have a very good on ball side....

Natte's practice match against Maryborough tonight has been cancelled due to the council not allowing Maryborough to train or play on the ground.

The ground has been marked as too hard and the rumour is that the council has even ordered them not to turn the lights on for any training as the ground is rock hard and they don't want to be liable for any injury claims.

Things are looking grim for the district if the #1 oval can't even make the grade.
