Read this in the Age this morning, finally a Crow player of seven years standing agrees with Port Adelaide supporters, that Adelaide has no history and is a manufactured club.
he Saints appealed to him in another way. All his senior career, he had been at new, manufactured clubs.

"I quite like the fact that it feels like a footy club here," he said. "That sense of tradition that you got at the season launch, all the old guys getting up there collecting their hall of fame awards, that was nice to be part of. To belong to a football club that's existed for 100-odd years."

Spoken like a typical Powder Puff supporter.

You idiot, did you even read the article?

In the particular article you are referring to, Clarke did NOT say that "Adelaide are not a real football club". Greg Baum (the writer) did (ie. the writer of the article infers that Clarkey had been at "new, manufactured clubs", not Clarke!)!

Your lifted quote reflects Clarkey's actual words but in the article he is very appreciative of his time at the AFC and did not seek to denigrate the AFC in any way (even when he talks about his "retirement").

Perhaps you PORT POWER supporters can stop worrying about the AFC and its past players and concentrate on the boguns who will attempt to add to your "rich tradition" (whatever).

I obviously read it more closely than you, quote me the appreciative bits

He also says when referring to preliminary finals failures,

It's a bit of a sore point," he said. "Probably the Adelaide ones the last couple of years were the worst. We'd played some really strong footy through the year, but didn't put it together in the prelims."

So perhaps we could discontinue the abuse and deal with the quotes

Maybe St Kilda could get all their premiership players up at the season launch.... then Adelaide could get all their premiership players up.

One team would have more and more of them are still capable of dressing themselves without the help of hursing staff ..... but hey, they have been around for 100 years! .....

or as malcolm blight said st. kilda's lack of it, thus the reason he didnt enjoy his time there.
still to this day i swear he went there only for the ridiculous amount of $$$ st. kilda threw at a guy who had already said he was burnt out from coaching AFL.

who wouldnt turn down $1 million a year or whatever stupid amount it was....

That's one of the best comments by a West Coast supporter in Bigfooty's history.

Aren't you a sensitive little flower then, E87. :D Clarkey wasn't having a crack at AFC or WC; no-one at St Kilda was. He was just commenting on the different feel a longer-established club has to one of the newer clubs. No more, no less. Given his career to date he'd be well placed to make such comments.

Nail. Hammer. Head.

Very, very foolish on our part. Blighty wasn't really interested. But we fixed it! :D

Or he is a bloke on his last legs who is happy that someone would take him and pay him money when a more sensible club realised he wasnt taking them forward.

Regardless, the thread is merely an opportunity to role out the old history and tradition chestnut that keeps the battlers in Melbourne warm at night.

Adelaide have created more history in the last 20 years than St Kilda have in 50. Longevity proves nothing much .....

true have only heard good things about Ross Lyon, and anyone who has spent the past 2 years at sydney is bound to have a positive effect.

i didnt rate grant thomas, IMO he wasnt an AFL coach he was a club administrator, someone such as a Terry Wallace or a Rodney Eade (who were avaliable around that time) could have got the premiership the saints really you have to say have deserved, that list they have perhaps not this year but the past few years has been just about, if not the best in the comp.

a prime example: Fremantle, been around longer than Port but achived f@#k all in comparison to Port.

To be fair, Port Adelaide have as much history in the AFL as Adelaide, which granted isnt much to brag about to the other. Now when both clubs have been around 100 odd years then start trading "my club has more history/star players/premierships" insults.

Geelong fans talking about history and premierships...

BigFooty never ceases to amaze.

Even if he did say we aren't a footy club he's at St Kilda. I do not need to go on.

Fair go they have only been a corporation for 10 years now give them a break

They are still learning

Why would a Port supporter be talking about the Crows having no history and being a manufactured club?
Crows have existed longer than the Port Power.
It makes no sense.

They have some weird obsession that port adelaide and port power are the same thing

port adelaide ceased in 1996 and port power was born

They sold their soul with their cigaretes to the afl man

A clubs history and traditions have to start somewhere. If this is all Port Power fans have to hang their hats on, they're battling a bit.
