Why would you cut off your nose to spite your face?

You would have to pay at least half of Mitch's salary to offload him to another club if reports are correct that's about $350k in 2022 we pay for him tonpay elsewhere.

Better to keep him - he knows what happens if he can't perform in 2022.

But everyone has been saying that we front loaded his deal. He did come across, when there wasn’t much else.

Even if we had to pay half (I doubt this) then we would be saving that money, as he doesn’t play.

He also knows what happens if he has a poor 2022, he rocks up and goes again in 2023 as he’s still contracted.

If someone will take him, send him off.
 
Okay Geth but I have to say, this time I haven't read your response as what I said really isn't worth all those words in response. It was a simple statement.
My parents always used to say of me, that I never waste time with a spoon when there's a shovel handy.
 
Cookie, just like you, who thought Liddle was the professional we had to have, the club might have thought the same.

Now this could blow your mind, but have you ever heard of a selection panel making an appointment, then after a period of time realizing that person wasn't capable of fulfilling the role? Every single organization would have these situations occurring

if he is replaced as senior coach he needs to go, its untenable for the new coach and Teague to have such a situation and would be a soft decision by the club. This is what we had when Barker stuck around after being caretaker coach, look at how that worked out for us!
Not sure they're quite the same. I think quite a few of us already had doubts over Barker prior to him becoming the interim, and he didn't exactly have the best reputation coming from the Hawks.
Teague at least has some runs on the board as an assistant at WC and Crows and as a head coach at the Bullants.
I could see a situation where Teague sticks around as an assistant. The incoming coach would obviously have to want him as part of his team, but you just need to make sure that Teague, and whoever comes in to replace him, are both on the same page.

Highly unlikely, but I don't think it's impossible.

No review of anything for 2 seasons. Suddenly Liddle's appointed, and Lloyd is Head of Football and is undergoing a series of internal reviews into specific departments. Within 2 seasons, Bolton and SOS are gone; no process of review was undertaken (as far as we know) into the replacement of either. Then, barely 2 years later again, we have a full club review undertaken, a president who will be retiring for a new president, and we have a football department scrambling to maintain their positions (as far as we know).

Someone's been pushing reviews and turnover for a while, but it's only really coming to a head now.

I cannot see anything good coming from this no matter how good Teague was or could be as an assistant.

I think it's a moot point though, it's the last thing an incoming coach would want.

Consistent with what I've heard for some time now Geth.

MLG had a platform, and the push, to undertake full independent review in 2019 but placated the agitators by sacking Bolton (and doing nothing else), then proceeded to undertake review "in-house".

Believe Sayers has led the charge on this for some time, and good on him; he may be a good egg. But there's still plenty of rotten ones around him. Until the puppet master is gone we will continue running around in the same circles.

Here is how I saw it at the time.

While at some point, every person takes on a role for the first time, with Liddle, they either shine or they fail. Then the flow on effect, Liddle essentially hires Lloyd, then Teague ( Players played a huge role in this)

Personally, for where we were, I would not have employed newbies in those critical roles. Then once we moved on Bolton, hiring another newbie coach was an error

As for the board, 3 of those involved in those decision are now departing

As for Sayers and the rest of the board, my hope is that we don't overreach on people based on name and or reputation rather than a strong level of experience as a collective group, CEO, Footy Manager and Coach
