Even if the rumours about Dow or any other player(s) wanting out are true, once all the changes are announced the new football department will sit down with all the players and do a bit of a reset.

It tells me its fortunate the board called for the review when they did so we can implement the changes once the regular season ends, ironing out any major issues like player discontent, so we know what we are dealing with come the trade/draft period.

Also in calling the review I do believe the board genuinely wanted to back Teague, but the weight of evidence is now overwhelming that he is not up to it, so as painful as it is we just have to wait until everything becomes official.

I believe Teague will be good enough eventually. I just don't thinks he's there yet. He should have realised that and asked for help. Rather than keeping same assistants. Ask for a senior assistant.

Probably shout have let Barker go when COVID started and kept Henry Playfair.

My question is whether or not we are willing to spend another year or two in the wilderness for Teague to find his feet?

A) does anyone here even know what he did or didn't ask for?
B) total speculation, but I've been wondering if COVID + Teague's (apparently genuine) niceness combined into a perfect storm re: the assistants. Not a huge shock he didn't clear house at the end of 2019 - he possibly felt he had to prove something first, understandably - but then the following year of COVID bubble life would make plenty of people hesitate when it came time to wield the axe, particularly when there are zero jobs to go to. Now, more ruthlessness was probably required at the time of each of these decisions or non-decisions, but if the assistant coaches had been identified as an issue, the head of football absolutely should've made sure this was addressed (I know no one here is defending Lloyd's approach)
C) agree about the senior assistant, but Teague should have had very little say in the matter - maybe agree on a shortlist/top 3 as he would need to work well with the chosen person, but it should have been non-negotiable. In general, transitioning from needing training wheels to riding without them usually requires a parent's guiding hand

Wish I was as confident of winning the lottery as I was in my belief that this rumour is absolute rubbish.

What it does show is the amount of angst amongst this forum. Two weeks ago we could still play finals. It's never as bad as things seem, clearly we need to alleviate some issues but (pending coaching appointments) I will be having a good size wager on us playing finals next year.

Why liddle? The guy has been doing a good job. We are top 4 or 5 for members and have zero debt. Without that stuff we wouldn't be in a position to sign lyon or clarko.

Thanks for your concern and I understand you mean well. As for his 'achievements'

$5m in debt @3% p.a. max ( I could do better for Carlton than 3% actually, but for arguments sake is a 'cost' of $150,000 p.a. to service - which is less than 10 bags of peanuts worth of worry)

The fact that financially naive people think this is a worthy achievement to hang a hat on - just goes to show ...well it shows something but not anything much about financial acumen.

As for membership numbers - I care more about total membership divided by membership derived revenue ie margin as a KPI and in that regard I can guarantee you he has underperformed - just another gild the lily exercise he and the ex President have concocted that fools not everyone...

My concerns with Liddle are well documented - look 'em up if you are so inclined - I stand by every single word/phrase/paragraph I have ever written about him and conside rhim as the ex President's biggest mistake - and there have been a few since Liddle arrived.
