Is Greg Williams as Footy Director a good thing? This has certainly come out of the blue so to speak.

I know he has been in and out of roles as a specialist skills coach and has mentored players previously, such as Neale and Merrett, but can anybody shed any light on what makes Diesel the ideal Footy Director? I know he has run a successful business and is direct and forthright with his opinions, but I am struggling to wrap my head around this appointment.

Sounds like whoever was against Lyon coming in is being given the boot.

I was thinking last night, if it was true and one or two board members could not see themselves endorsing it, maybe if others super keen on it, maybe they just remove themselves from board position due to such differences of opinion. I suspect that what may have happened, rather than given the boot.

It seems pretty obvious, they were waiting on Clarkson today to make a decision and when his manager come out saying he wont coach next year that means he told us no and from the way Ross Lyon was speaking the other night the job was his as long as Clarkson didn't want it.

Because each director brings differing experience and skills, and Diesel played with the best, was coached by the best, knows the club inside and out having played and coached there for like forever and will bring that experience to decision making.

Getting Diesel back at the club is awesome. Not sure it is worth the over the top carry on though. There has to be something else. It's great news but hardly life changing and not going to make footy classified essential viewing
