I dunno, if Voss is only just coming to town today I find it pretty hard to believe that it's all but confirmed he'll be coach as has been reported.

He may well be the man to come out on top, but feels premature to say that the job is basically his.

Definitely premature. We were told yesterday (fact, according to the Ian Prender Cast, not rumour) that Kingsley would be presenting to our selection committee today. He might even be doing that in person. I suspect the committee might be keen to get Voss to present in person just because they can (i.e. he is travelling in the permitted direction).

And so, at the risk of sounding like a professional idiot... "lots to play out here".

Most of the movement is lateral, so in a car, that energy is dissipated through the tyres, in a house/building it's dissipated through the walls, hence the window shakes and wall cracks etc.
oh, you are a legend for explaining that. Makes total sense when you explain it about the tyres absorb most of the movement, so not passed onto us sitting inside car so much.

In terms of Voss vs Ross, I'm looking at this way. One bloke is prepared to crawl through hot coals, putting himself at risk of being publicly humiliated by missing out on a senior coaching appointment again, vs a bloke that seemed to pack it in because it got a bit hard. For the record I preferred Ross up until that point.

Sam Walsh named emergency goal umpire for the grand final :eekv1:. FFS, anything this kid can't do!? :p

You're welcome :)

I remember seeing a doco years ago about how in New Zealand they were actually putting the pillars of high-rises on to giant sorbothane-like blocks of rubber. These things would start out about 2 or 3 feet tall and then get squashed down to a few millimeters by the time the entire weight of the building was on them. But their job was to just allow for the ground to shift left-to-right while the support pillars stayed put. Fascinating and clever idea for earthquake resistant buildings!

that sensation has more to do with you not moving relative to the environment you're in rather than the effect an earthquake would have on a moving vehicle.

correct me if I've remembered the wrong name but im pretty sure it's inertia. like how you dont feel like you're barreling through the sky while in a plane.

Edit:

I should have clarified thats the difference between the effect Oldbluefan explained which means the tremor has small effect on the moving car and the different reason we dont feel the movement while we are in the car.

I think our building engineer mate before explained it better than what you or I could.
In plane I can feel the acceleration big time in taking off but generally the rest of plane rides are not major changes in speed so we do not feel it much except when ****ing turbulence ****s up a nice sleepy plane ride.

Free agency period starts next Friday. With trade period on the Monday.

I'm sure we would like to have our coach announced before that.

I was thinking this week would be the announcement. Maybe tomorrow or Friday?
I'm guessing Friday morning at this point but more just a guess. Hoping it just a case of Ross and Voss finishing off the process and best fit is our coach.
I'm torn because I win more money if Lyon is it but I kind of prefer a younger coach of Vossy age.
As long as Diesel and Parko pick who they think is best, I will sleep well.

Yea that's inertia.
If you're moving relative to the environment you're in you dont feel it unless there is a sudden change (accelerating, turbulance) the tyres arent absorbing that force but they and the suspension help to absorb the outside force (the tremor) on the car while it's in motion.
