Boyd must have really pooed his shoes.

Motlop was good before his injury this year. Worked really hard and ran both ways. Deserved another year or two.

McEntee is not a small forward. Pointless to resign him if that’s how we see it. However, he could be a decent midfielder.

We still need to target small forwards with our later/rookie picks.

What Jed does well ie Tackle and pressure the ball carrier are not Motlop's strengths and what Motlop does well ie finish and show some polish are not Jed's strengths.
Another 12 months for each of them is fine by me.

I was really hoping that Motlop was gone after his pathetic preliminary final performance. He is a massive down hill skier.

If the club didn't resign players because they performed poorly in the 2021 prelim the list would be volley ball team size, so Motlop I can understand, not so sure about McEntee though he looks like a fairly bog standard snafl player to me.

I'm glad we've given Motlop another contract.

Motlop has been best 22 the last two seasons, i think he has been pretty good in most games. But he does have a tendency to go missing every now and then, which has always been one of his major flaws. A lot have said he goes missing in big games, but i think it is a lot more random than that, some of his best games over his career have come in finals. A couple playing for Geelong and the 2 QF finals wins in the last 2 years he has been very good.

If it actually came down to Woodcock or Motlop i think it would've been a fairly easy decision.

I think in most cases with mid-season draftees, they'll end up with an 18 month deal, because if we don't re-sign them after the end of the season, they get a 20k payout from memory.

Hadn't thought about it before your post, but I didn't see anything that says Jed is better than Boyd.

I think Boyd will only ever be a fringe AFL player. Will be interesting to see if playing for Southport and doing well there, sparks any interest from AFL clubs, especially GC and Brisbane.

I guess they want to see what Jed can bring to the table after a full preseason.

Uninspiring, but unsurprising. I can see with our lack of decent picks after 12, that them on a one year deal, able to be ditched end of 2022, rather then 2 players picked at 100 and 101 tied up for 2 years, is the way to go.

McEntee shouldn’t have ever been drafted though. A small SANFL midfielder pigeon holed into a small forward at AFL level, without the x-factor to cut in at the top level at his height in either role.

Motlop is ok backup for a year, but Ken doesn’t get older players remaining backup. If we make finals no one (with any sense), would trust Motlop to have 3 or 4 games where he contributes well. I see Motlop playing plenty, as Ken will be more worried about protecting his job, then Motlops position going to Mead or Schofield. Sure they’d do worse in the short term, but much better for the long.

Because he's 31 and doesn't do much.
4 years after the cats were happy to ditch him, he's declined in pretty much every statistical category majorly.
